So few days to go for the match....

My prediction :

If Murali can manage to take Pieterson out, then SL witout any doubts will be in drivers seat!!!
For England, many newcomers will be facing tough bowling from Lankans.

I will support England in this contest :cheers

ya Murali and Pieterson are the key players.Youngsters will face a difficult time out there .

Twenty20 International The Rose Bowl, Southampton

Third Man's Chat

untitled26hx.jpg

David Gower :
Hello and Welcome to The Third Man's Chat for the pre-match
session of the match .Today we are here for the Twenty20
International between England and Sri Lanka atThe Rose Bowl,
Southampton .We are just a few hours away from the start of
the match. With me in the studio are David Lloyd, Ian Botham,
Michael Holding, Nasser Hussain and Michael Atherton.Lets hear
from this cricketing experts about their views and opinions
about todays match.

N. Hussain : Good Morning Everyone. Well I think today's match will be a
tough one as Sri Lanka have won the previous test match and
Murali will be in top form as he bowled brilliantly in the last test.
Also England's side is preety inexperienced as they have got
some new faces in the side and also bowling department is
inexperienced .Again the captain is changed again ....A.Strauss
is the new captain he will be under tremendous pressure for the
whole series also no A.Flintoff in the side .So the whole
pressure will be on the Trescothick and Pieterson to score runs
.S.Harmision is included in the squad and he is the leading
bowler of the side so he should get wickets upfront so that
other bowlers won't be under pressure
.

I. Botham : The Sri Lankan's have strengthened their bowling lineup by
calling Dilhara Fernando and Ruchira Perera but still Murali is the
key bowler .If the England batsmen will play Murali well then
they have a chance to get huge runs on the board .Also
England should get Jayasurya early because he like hitting
and if he gets a start then he will get big score.

Pitch Report

David Gower:
Thank You Naseer Hussain and Ian Botham . Michael Holding is
down there for the pitch report .Hello Michael tell us how the
pitch will play today .

M. Holding : Thank You David . Well the picth have something for both the
batsman and swing bowlers .It has some moisture on its surface
so the bowl will swing initially for 5-6 overs and then it will come
on the bat nicely. Also spinners will get some turn so expect
Murali to play a big role here .Well the team winning the toss will
elect to bowl first and get few wickets in the starting 4-5 overs
.The ideal target will be around 150-160 .If the team batting first
will get anything below 130 then they will have a tough time to
save the match.Back to you David.

David Gower: Michael Holding with the pitch report tells that the team winning
the toss will certainly bowl first. We will take a short break here
when we comeback we will have the Toss with Michael Atherton.....
Stay Tuned ...........

i am tuned gamer ;).. looking at the pitch report.. i think England should win the toss and bowl first ;)

As long as Pieterson stays, England will be in good position!!!
its 20-20...so whatever the pitch may be...England can better chase aftr knowing the destination score!!!

:cheers to England

The Toss

David Gower: Michael Atherton is there on the pitch with the two captains for
the toss.

M.Atherton : Thank You David ......A.Strauss have the coin ...Jayawardena calls
heads ...Heads it is .....SriLanka have won the toss. What will u
elect to do Mahela?

J'wardena: Well we will bowl first .There is ome moisture present so the bowl
will swing early on and hoping that we will get a few wickets early
on and put them under pressure
.

M.Atherton : How many bowlers are you playing with ?

J'wardena: We are plaing with 5 bowlers and D.Fernando is included in the
side.

M.Atherton : Well good luck for the match Mahela.
J'wardena: Thank You.

M.Atherton : Well Anderw disappointed by losing the toss?

A.Strauss: No not much ...we will have to play carefully during the first few
overs. Also we will have to keep wickets in hand so that we can
go for the big shots in the end .

M.Atherton :What about your team?

A.Strauss: We have got E.Joyce and G.Chapple in the side and also
S.Harmison is included in the side .

M.Atherton :Good luck for the match Andrew

A.Strauss: Thanks Michael

M.Atherton: Back to you David .

David Gower: Well the news from the center is that SriLanka have won the
toss and elected to field first .The teams are ready and are on
the field .David Lloyd is with me here in the studio.Well David
some quick word about the match.

2131233os.jpg

David Lloyd: Well England should bat really well in the start and not to loose
many wickets early on. Pieterson is the key man for England .It
will be a godd contest between Murali and Pieterson .Vass should
pitch the ball in the right areas so that S.L will get wickets early
on as the bowl will swing for few overs.

David Gower: Thank You David .ell thats it from the The Third Man's Chat .We
will take short break when we come back we will take you to
straight to the first ball of the match

good decision by SL!!! :cheers
England has to bowl well later in the innings to stay on this competition!!!

The toss was really exciting as well. (woops I was watching oxPass when I said that)

Keep up the great work.

Sri Lanka won the toss! this will be amazing well hope England bat well! and can make a good total.. ;) Im tuned!

England off to a good start

Engalnd have started off well as they scored 21 runs in the first 2 overs. Trescothick is playing well with 3 boundaries and A.Strauss has hit one boundary.

C.Vaas was struggling with his run-up as he bowled 2 no balls and also was not consistent with his line and length .He bowled 3 dot balls in a row and the was smashed for two 4's throgh the covers by Trescothick.Andrew Strauss chased a wide and missed it but there was a huge appeal for caught behind on the last ball of the over but umpire turned that one down. Snicometer confirmation for caught behind appeal:

L.Mainga also struggled with his line and length and pitched the ball outside the off stump and was thrashed for four by Strauss and Trescothick . M.Tresothick looks in fine nick and is playing his shots with full of confidence .

Boundaries hit by both the batsmen:

England 21/0 (2 overs)
