England's tour of India - 2021

Loved Kohli's response on Ashwin's chances in the T20 format! Very classy.

Can anyone explain to me what wrong that journalist asked?

Yeah exactly! I felt he over reacted a bit. Being a Captain of the side he would be in a better position to answer certain questions and explain it but what he came up with is, "you should've have a logical explanation for asking such questions" :rolleyes

But I also agree to him with the point- Where do you fit him in the T20I line-up?

At eight, as the powerplay spinner instead of Sundar. He is a better bowler than Sundar but Sundar's batting prowess could easily swing it in his favour. His lacklustre fielding efforts don't help either.

Then again, I feel like it wouldn't be the worst idea to play him for a couple of games to see if he could still work versus the top sides. He was very impressive for Delhi towards the end in the last season despite lacking a capable wrist spinner to pair up with.

Dude, trust me - you are REALLY out of loop with the game of cricket and need to get back to the drawing board :D 6 months to a World Cup is like "NOW" in cricket parlance...

And he didn't call India as favorites in his post. Are you out of your bed yet? :p
Yep indeed I am. One of the effects of the ongoing lockdowns and it doesn't encourage me to follow the game as years gone by since India are topping the game, and have won many championships/series over the last couple years.

I actually would never go past Washi, but how is the question that the journalist asked "unintelligent?"

Washi is much closer to Ashwin as a bowler in T20's. And Ashwin's fitness/fielding is still nowhere close to the modern day standards that are expected of cricketers. For test match which doesn't move as fast, his fitness is fine.

Unless Washi gets injured or has a drastically horrible season (again, I am disappointed Kohli mentioned this coz I wouldn't want to be under a captain who puts that kind of pressure on me by saying things like this in media), there is no chance Ashwin can sneak in to the T20I squad.

There used to be a time when Yuzi and Kuldeep together used to toil with the oppositions in both ODIs and T20s. Yuzi is still relevant but Kuldeep has lost his touch in the recent times. None of the two could chip in with bat but still they both were in the playing 11 in the 2017-18-19 season. And India had been dominant in those years in white bowl.

Kuldeep's self-confidence is low now. Kuldeep bowled well in those matches only for MSD's guidance. Mahi always guided him like an elder brother. Kuldeep is missing Mahi Bhai's valuable advice now. This is creating brain fog. It will take time. Mental Health of Kuldeep is very important right now. That's why there is a slump in his performances. Kohli didn't like Kuldeep for in-consistency & lack of confidence. I think, KKR will also ignore him in IPL 2021. When you starts to follow someone blindly, it ruins your individuality. That's happening with Kuldeep.

this isnt good for India, he is one rare chinaman india has

Fans are hilarious!

Has Pant also gone to Dhoni and sorted his game out? NO!

He was simply picked after the shambolic 36 and he had to be picked because the management was cornered. He managed to perform once or twice like only he can and now his confidence is at a level that is at par with his game.

It's the same with Kuldeep. He has been handled badly, like many Indian cricketers under a bunch of clowns and it's a matter of him just putting in one or two performances and getting his confidence back.

I disagree agree with this. Kuldeep was a great bowler under Dhoni's guidance. Kuldeep played well in test matches because Dhoni gave him tips on video calls before and after every session. Not only Kuldeep, but the whole Indian team is also nothing without Dhoni. Dhoni used to guide everyone. Until the 2019 World Cup, Dhoni was the real captain of India and Virat was just a paper captain. Dhoni used to guide Virat and Dhoni should be given credit for the loss in the World Cup and Champions Trophy all those matches which India won under Virat's captaincy.

Now, the Indian team is very strong weak in Dhoni's absence. Our middle order is very strong weak. There is no one to play test knocks match winning innings. India won T20 series in Australia and New Zealand lost ODI series in Australia and New Zealand which shows India is really missing this legend.

Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy tore Chahal to shreds.
I can assure you this won't happen for long. This would be the series where he would trouble England at some point.
