England's tour of India - 2021

Who is this new bloke again?

Just heard that Motera is going to be a batting paradise for the last Test match. Who would be at advantage then?

What I believe if that is the case then India will have an upper hand because England's confidence has been terribly affected in last couple of matches due to string a low scores and them not being able to breach the 150 run mark.

Depends if it’s completely dead, or a standard wicket which will spin in the last couple days. In the latter case, the toss will be crucial, but if it stays dead throughout, the bowling will decide it, and on that front, India have a clear edge.

I don't expect the former in the sub-continent. There would definitely be some turn on Day 4 & Day 5.

Pujara, Kohli and Rahane aren't in impressive form. So India could do with more technical and traditional batsmen at 6 and 7, along with an extra batsman. I suggest that they line up as follows:
Rohit
Gill
Pujara
Kohli
Rahane
Agarwal
Saha
Axar
Ashwin
Umesh
Siraj

Pant is a good cameo player when the going is good, but given Rahane's poor form, India probably need the extra batsman and a batsman in Saha who is capable of batting time. This lengthens India's batting capability well on a turner.

It wouldn't hurt to bring in D.Bess for the Final Test. Appears to be the lucky charm for England. He will give dollies but will also pick up a 5-for :p

I don't think they would drop Gill. Also it is expected that Siraj will play ahead of Umesh Yadav.

Wonder what the 'National Duty' gang has to say about this :rolleyes I guess they won't open their mouth as a Bollywood celebrity ain't involved here :p

On a personal note - congrats to Bumrah and I think India will likely have Bhuvi back or we can have the likes of Deepak Chahar in the ODI team. Natarajan should be able to do death bowling duties in Bumrah's absence
