I think if Arshavin have gone down immediately when Bramble pushed him, Arsenal would have gotten the penalty. For the offside call, it was pretty marginal. Arsenal should have gotten the benefit of the doubt from the linesman there.

And oh, the referee for the Arsenal is apparently from Manchester.

Here's another interview. This time, it's with Jamie Carragher. A great one too.

Jamie Carragher exclusive: What the Liverpool defender really thinks of Fergie, Neville and United | Mail Online

The main reason why Arshavin did not go down quickly was because Bramble pulled his trouser and Arshavin had to guard it.

Bramble wasn't exactly doing that. He was pulling it but not too much. Either way, Arsenal should have gotten the penalty nonetheless.

Boy-O-Boy Suarez ! Who needs the cricketing ████ Torres when your here to ride us through ?? And what a match so far , the exact definition of the word , 'rivalry' . Tempers all over , If Carra deserved red , so did Rafael . Nani , you cry-baby , i can understand you provided a fabulous assist for our 2nd goal , but stop making a meal out of that foul and get over it . Injuries are human after all . Dumbfounded to see a calm and quiet Sir Alex Ferguson though :p
And what was van der sar trying to convey to the ref after that 1st goal ?? Offside ?? :rolleyes

Guess am nearly getting those 20 bucks ;)
P.S : cricket you Arsenal , the South African cricket team in disguise . FGS start winning games !!!

Again, Liverpool fans are still mentioning Torres. :facepalm

Anyway, United were extremely poor in the game. Even without Vidic and Ferdinand, they were all over the place defensively.

I have to say that I was surprised that Sir Alex played the 4-4-2 again in a big game like this.

On Nani, it's not nice to see when a player suffers injury but how on earth did he get up from the touchline after being strongly tackled by Carragher, ran over to the ref who was a distance of him and complain to him and then went down touching his knee and crying in pain?

Roy Keane wouldn't be proud of the crying too. :lol

Just watched the game between Wolves and Spurs. A cracking game and end to end stuff with controversial decisions in it as well. Hutton should have been sent off in the first half and Stearman's goal around the 80th minute(somewhere around that time) should have stood. And the goals from Defoe and Pavyluchenko was absolutely wonderful too.

Awful performance. Everyone, bar Carrick, was just not good enough. Rooney, Giggs, Nani contributed nothing. Defensively all over the place. Really disappointing. Nani's leg looked horrendous from the pictures, was fortunately only a gash (although very severe).

Carrick. He was just as bad to me really, another example of his so called passing skills failing to step up in big games. Not sure why Fletcher didn't start or why SAF played a simple 4-4-2.

Either way i think this is turning out to be the best season in European since La Liga 2006/07.

Load of rubbish from us today and no mistake. Once again, no Vidic or Ferdinand and the defence doesn't know what to do; Smalling is too young to take on the role of marshalling the defence - until he can do the job, we need some versatile defensive cover - someone who can play all over the back four so he isn't warming the bench when Vidic/Ferdinand are fit.

Carragher and Rafael both very lucky boys not to go - both were very bad tackles.

Bolton next for us I think - not sure about Arsenal. If Chelsea win on Monday though, they've suddenly taken a six point chunk out of the deficit from us to them - we need to get back on track. At least these two games are now out of the road, as Sir Alex would say.

Yep. No Fletcher = no steel at all in the midfield. As well as a versatile defender, we need a midfield general; we've never really replaced Keano.

His passes were simple and effective. Kept the ball moving, intecepted play, and was a solid base. Why would he try playing long diagonal balls when Scholes is alongside him? Scholes disappointed me with his passing tbh; Giggs, Nani and Rooney failed to make the most of the solid play from Carrick, the wing play was generally very poor from man utd.

A commentator made the point that if things are going tits up, we can bring on Giggs and Scholes to turn the game around - I reckon their best use now is as impact substitutions not starters, especially Giggs.

Dixon's tactic summary here summarizes well i think what was wrong with Carrick playing:

If Carrick was going to play it had to be part of 3-man mid-field with a defensive mid-fielder to help. He isn't good enough to control the teams passing in a simple 2-man mid-field like Scholes, Xavi, Pirlo.

Ye. But to be fair, before Valencia got injured Giggs role this season was basically that of an impact sub. Since Valencia/Nani had cemented their places on the wings.

Gotta agree with Samuels here.

To be fair carrick has made alot of money being a very average footballer, how he is getting away being at man utd is beyond me, he is a championship player at best for me.

He's Michael Carrick, not Winston f'in Bogarde.

Whats your point?

Both earning money for being cack at their job perhaps.

What is it that carrick does? come on someone please tell me?

He just lets games pass him by. you wouldnt know he was playing most games if not all, he is very negative and slows the game down considerably when in possesion.

Most of his passes go back to the defence, when does he split a defence open with a clinical through ball?

Also he cant tackle either.
