I'm pleased it isn't Hiddink - this other guy might be good, but Hiddink already knows the team and English football. If I was Chelski, I would've moved heaven and earth to get him back.

Don't you remember the great job he did when with Chelsea last time?

Of course I do! Was just teasing you. :p

Going back to this, Villas Boas actually already knows the team. The core players like Terry, Lampard, Drogba, Cech and Essien are still here since he last left and I would say he understands English football too, having scouted opposition, preparing detailed scouting reports for Mourinho and of course, working under Mourinho himself.

I don't like these comparisons between Mou and Villas-Boas. Remember Mou won the Champions League with Porto, which is a crazy achievement. Not saying Villas-Boas is bad though, just that he might not as "special" as others think.

He could prove me wrong though.

He's only 33 - bit of a gamble I think, especially coming from Portuguese football to the cut and thrust of the Premiership - to a club where they've already said that the next man must succeed, otherwise he'll go the way of Ancellotti - because he was a real failure, wasn't he? I thought this 'win or you're sacked' rubbish only happened in Spanish football! :facepalm

Pretty risky move by the manager and Chelsea. I thought there were strong rumours linking Hiddink but lets see what this guy does.

The more I think about it, the more I'm coming to the conclusion that this is a huge risk for Chelsea - does this guy know what he's letting himself in for?

I would actually say its a bigger risk for him than the club. We all know what Roman is capable of doing - making a joke out of each and every manager in Chelsea. I won't be surprised if AVB received the same treatment from Roman as Carlo.

Chelsea should have got Hiddink, poor decision. Boas should have been given a run at Porto for another season at CL.
