Well as an arsenal fan, I simply take delight in the misfortune of Man U :p

Couldn't agree more more. Woke up today expecting a close victory for Man Utd, but no, I was very pleasantly surprised :D . Not many things I enjoy more than seeing Man Utd get thrashed when most people have pretty much already handed them the title.

I just don't want City to win though, as it'll mean Nasri was right in predicting City would be title winners. Would've been even better if Tottenham lost, as well, but alas, you can't have it all. Hoping if any of the top four have to win the title, it's Newcastle :p . Or Chelsea.

So that's a loss for Utd, a loss for Chelsea, a draw for Pool and a victory for Arsenal, nice little weekend it's proved to be :D .

Overall though, Evans really look horrible in defence there. De Gea not quite as poor, but still not even close to the level he's expected to play at. The rest of the backline all very poor as well. I suppose the performance on the rest of the park is what SAF gets after relying that much on Cleverly, and playing Welbeck when to me, he just dosen't seem quite there yet.

Massive wow, where did this result come from. What a season this is turning out to be, not often you see these massive thrashings and will be hard to find the last time both Arsenal and Man U got thrashed in the same season.

I guess it's what happens when a club gets taken over by rich businessmen from Dubai...

Yep, you're right but he's done a terrific job of it, hasn't he? I mean, it's all good spending millions on a bunch of players but they still have to gel and it looks like it's slowly coming together for them. At first, the players went for money only. However, now, City also has the allure of a team challenging (operative word here being challenging, not winning) for trophies and making it to the Champions League. I'm not happy about it but I wouldn't be complaining if I were City fan.

That being said, I think United will clinch the title because of their ability to win even when they play like ????.

Well, you have to do a good job when you have that many stars on your team. Yes, it can be difficult for players to gel extremely well, but the thing is, atleast to me it looks like with the number of match-winners on that side, the team could still play some pretty good football even if they don't come together too well, and still challenge for the title. I agree though, Mancini has done a good job. I don't think anyone would predict even Barcelona to beat Man Utd 6-1 at Old Trafford, but City have done it. Mind you, it looked like Man Utd weren't even trying at all.

One thing's for sure, Man City atleast look very consistent. Their consistency is a huge asset for their title challenge. I always thought Utd were always very consistent, but looking at how they fell apart, it looks like they may enter a rough patch. Next week's match against Everton will be vital for Utd to get back into a run of form. Honestly I was never certain Utd would win the title like most people were, but now more than ever I'm having doubts.

I'm certainly not happy about it either. I mean who would have predicted this five years ago. What's next, Wigan get taken over by some Saudi businessmen and win the title?

My prediction is Newcastle will stay unbeaten this season and take the title by 30 points.

it will be funny if City rout barcelona at some point in the CL knockouts, even though I hate citeh it would be worth it just to wipe the smug grin off simpering barca worshippers.

man u shouldn't fret too much though, they've taken a blow but season after season they've won the league on their staying power.

All true man. The mid-field is very soft, even you get a fit Cleverley back. Not getting Sneijder is proving to be a big issue now for sure.

But Man City have throughly announced themselves on Europe now with this performance, if they can build on this performance they could be Barcelona's biggest headache in the Champions League as well (presuming they come out of their tough CL group also).

I hope Capello say Richard's performance as right-back how he kept up with the speed on Young virtually all game. Micah can do more than today performance to prove he is the best RB in ENG although other quality options like Walker and Kelly are around.

I really don't think Sneijder is the right man. Utd play a 4-4-2 and should continue playing that formation considering the players they have. They need a central midfielder. Sneijder's not that, he's more of a number 10 but really comes closer to an actual forward than a playmaker.

It came from that red card. In the first half, we were bossing possession and I would've expected us to score at least one goal in the second half. It can't all be laid at Evans' feet - the defending that allowed Balotelli to get one on one with him was awful - but pulling his arm was the worst possible choice he could've made. Sometimes it's harder to play against ten men, but sometimes the walls fall in, as happened to us. I am 100% sure that had we stayed at full strength, the result wouldn't have been so bad and we might have even sneaked a draw. That start to the second half just screwed everything up from the off and knocked the wind right out of our sails.

I'm not too worried. Sure, it's massively annoying to be beaten by them like that and in our own backyard too, but we've taken thrashings before and still came out on top. Man Utd 0-4 Liverpool a few years back, anyone? Or Newcastle 5-0 Man Utd? Of course the bookies are going to install City as favourites for the league after that, but it's way too early to write us off - do so at your peril.

Perhaps this is the wakeup call we needed - as others have said, even in the 8-2 vs Arsenal, our defensive frailties were there for all to see. But I don't understand why we didn't play Vidic and Ferdinand - unless Vidic was injured. We always look more solid with those two. As for Evans, I've thought this a long time about him, but he's not Utd quality.

Still, City were class and have been for many games now. They'll have their blip though. ;)

I'd be a bit worried if I was Aldershot tomorrow - this is going to massively piss Utd off and a pissed off Man Utd vs a League Two side could result in quite a backlash. ;) As I said before, the team has had an almighty kick up the arse now, that was maybe needed.

Yep, Evans isn't a Utd player - we should've kept Brown or O'Shea and given him to Sunderland! Can't really blame De Gea for the goals - the commentators would've been all over him if he was at fault and they weren't - and De Gea definitely earned us a point at Anfield last week, which could yet be vital. Welbeck is a good young player, but he's not quite ready to be in the first team as much as he's being recently, especially not in games like this, but having said that, Hernandes always seems to play better as a sub, like Ole. Without Vidic/Ferdinand, the defence doesn't look good, but Jones and Smalling are coming on well. Which is more than can be said for Evans.

Still, apart from City going five points clear, minimal damage - Chelski lost as well! :D

Mind you, it looked like Man Utd weren't even trying at all.

That wasn't the case in the first half, but the red card right at the start of the second half just set it all up for an awful day for Utd. But we'll bounce back - we always do. ;)

If Sneijder had come i wouldn't have expected United to play 4-4-2. It would have been more of a 4-2-1-3

Yup, but the way you lost heart in the second half made it 6-1. Usually United always try, so I reckon if they were in a good enough place a 4-3 win was even possible. But no. It would've been 8-1 if Balotelli stayed on probably since Dzeko was just so terrible.

Arsenal lost 8-2, and now look at us - we're fine now. It'll be the same for you guys until you come to the Emirates and lose.

Honestly, there's not much that could've made the week better. Half the big six dropped points this week, that's huge. Hopefully Tottenham drop points next week.

SAF could've gotten rid of Evans too. Utd have enough defenders now that it wouldn't have mattered. Jones definitely should've been on instead of Evans, if Vidic was injured. Or perhaps Smalling could've played in the centre.

And what about the 4 other strikers at the club? It would be a pointless signing as it's not the player Utd need and it would cost a huge deal of money.
