On our game - Joe Allen is Sunday League material.

Well played, Liverpool - they really pushed us hard in the second half. Good to see that the moaners at Yahoo who were going on about Webb being the referee will have to shut the hell up now - especially as Webb could've given us a penalty when Kagawa was pushed (the guys in the studio seemed unanimous that it should've been a pen. ;)

Looks like City are going to break a long running winless streak at Arsenal today - last time they won there was in 1975 or something like that.

So: ten points clear (for now - it's looking like City will win at Arsenal), but there's a long, long way to go and we will be mindful of what happened last season!

Oh and a special shout out to Welbeck - he ran himself into the ground today for the cause.

RvP... what a goal. Again. :D

First half was awful. The defenders were too tight on RVP and needless to say, he wiggled away and scored. Also, surely Liverpool had more than one avenue to attack through. It was basically just Reina to Johnson to Sterling who ran into a brick wall. Allen was poor and has been for a while now. He's late in tackles, and his pass percentage might be high but when he misplaces a pass it's often disastrous (as it almost was today). I still think he will live up to his price tag. He started very well against the big teams like City and United, and is just going through a rough patch. Hopefully he will come through it. Downing was anonymous, and I felt sorry for Gerrard as he hardly got a touch of the ball in the first half, and when he did, there was nothing on. Suarez was also far too isolated up front. Sturridge was great, but it doesn't need saying that he doesn't look up to find teammates in the final third. He just shoots. His movement was great though, and his energy was lacking in the first half when Sterling kept losing the ball and Downing was invisible.

The second half was encouraging, and I hope we can take that into our next game.

Special mention for Carrick as well. He was outstanding again today.

What do y'all make of Andre Wisdom? Should he really have started at RB?

Personally feel he's solid in his tackles (a trait of a CB), but his positioning and crossing for a fullback are just outrageously bad. And he isn't a natural fullback either.

Solely due to the fact he decides to play it safe among the back line. Came under heavy criticism from Alan Shearer for the same and I agree with Alan. Needs to be more direct and positive, like for example, Swansea's Ki Sung-Yong.

Agreed on Carrick. As Piers Morgan tweeted, it's unfair to call United a one man team when they have Carrick in their ranks.

Only caught the the last 15 minutes of the match. Thought Welback played really well. Good signs and might put Ronney for rest for the next match as well. There was a slight confusion in Evra/Vidic goal. I thought it was a offside when it touched Vidic but it was never really a issue as the referee at first gave the goal in name of Evra. (or at least that's what the commentators say)

Utd aren't a one man team in any case - sure, RvP's making chances for himself and putting other simple ones away, but without service from the rest of the team, he wouldn't even get the ball in the box. The idea of a 'one man team' is a bit daft all round really - for any team. Apart maybe from Maradona's Argentina in '86 - maybe.

I read an interesting letter on Sky Sports text earlier - what if football was to follow cricket's lead and allow two appeals per game for each team? The captain would be the one to talk to the referee and with all the cameras around nowadays, it wouldn't take a few seconds. Just throwing it out there - what do you think?

I think football has a serious problem at the moment with the standard of refereeing. There is so much at stake, huge amounts of money involved in the game and referees have simply got to get decisions right, and if that is too much to ask of a mere mortal then they need help from a video referral or something along those lines.

As much as I want Lambert to fail and Villa to go down, what if they were relegated by the margin of that shocking penalty decision that went against them yesterday? What about Kompany's sending off today? If Man City now go and concede plenty of the back of his incorrect red card? Something has to be done.

Mancini's making me laugh now. So, they'll 'be there' when Utd drop points? All they have to do is be within four or five points heading into the Old Trafford game? May I remind you Mr Mancini, that it's more than possible that City will also drop points - and that we've already actually beaten you once this year, on your own patch? Indeed, so far this season, it appears that you've dropped more than we have! Seems that Mancini doesn't understand Sir Alex at all if he thinks there's a likelihood that we'll blow a big lead two years in a row.

As for 'we don't deserve to be seven points behind'... well, as Lee says, 'the table never lies'. :p

Just seen the Kompany tackle on Sky Sports highlights... wow. One of the worst red cards I've ever seen!
