English wicketkeepers

Nixon played a few games in 07, most notably in the world cup, he was very meh. Way too old and not particularly talented with the bat or gloves.

This season in List A cricket Mustard has 259 runs at 37 but his strike rate's been massively down, the season before that he made 362 at 24. He really isn't good enough tbh, not with the bat or the gloves. Prior's as good with the gloves as Mustard.

As for Ambrose. He may have performed poorly against NZ, but he's not a bad OD batsman, averaged 70 with the bat in 2007 in List A cricket, and is generally better when batting slightly up the order. He's not a lower order slogger.

Kieswetter's surely next in line in ODi's though. He's an excellent player, and solid with the gloves. He has 353 runs at 70.60 this season with 2 hundreds and made 537 last season at 41 with a hundred and 3 fifties. So unlike alot of English keepers that are picked, he's far more than a 1 season wonder. He'd slot in nicely at the top of the order alongside Bopara I think.

I just had a look at the stats for this season and Kieswetter's strike-rate is 105, not bad....haha. What's his keeping like?

Steven Davies isn't going to bad either, averaging 44 with a SR of 101. Who would be the better keeper between the two.

Kieswetter's an excellent keeper from what I've seen of him. Has performed very solidly whenever I've seen him keep, and is certainly a stronger gloveman than Steve Davies I feel.

I don't really know how to put this either, but Kieswetter just 'looks' like an international cricketer.

So by the time this guy is eligible to play for England will he walk into the ODI team. Andrew Strauss is just a stop gap no?

England are going to need someone different to open with Bopara within the next year.

I personally feel that Denly could be England's opener in a couple of years.
