Favorite cricket moments

Sachin's run out against Pakistan at Calcutta (Asia Test Championship)

speaking of India v Pakistan, I remember one over from an odi in Sharjah few years ago..Sachin smashed one perfectly fine delivery from Akram over mid wicket for a 6, reply from Wasim was a brutal bouncer delivered from a very odd angle (like only he could do ;) ) Sachin had no chance of getting out of the way and it struck him on his helmet. Two of the all time greats at their best.. :hpraise

Sorry, but I had to resurrect this dormant thread after I saw the hattrick delivery from Tremmlitt bounce on the top of Ashraful's stumps without dislodging the bails. A new favorite cricket moment.

Reminded me of the delivery from Mushtaq Ahmed, dont remember the batsman but it was a test match in Pakistan a few years back, perfect googly, goes between the offstump and middle stump without dislodging the bails. Turns out the groundstaff had put the wickets in wrong at the start of play and there was too much space between the stumps. Obviously everyone was in stitches.

Flintoff's 15- against the South African's i think it was two years ago at Lords, we had lost the test and Flintoff just let loose againt the whole south african bowling attack, Ntini especially, he kept bowling it faster and fatser and flintoff hit it further and further.

Warne's Gatting Ball

Atherton vs. Donald

All of Peiterson's innings in South Africa were great because of the way in, which he responded to the booing. Just playing cricket, well.

Those are it for me.

I hear ya...

Don't know if its mentioned before --

1. Ajay Jadeja's 2 sixes against Waqar Younis in the 1996 (?) world cup. Mind you, this was a six being dug out of a yorker
2. Srikkanth's one opening inning against WI (? ) -- 4 6 6 4 out or something like that.
3. One of the first times Sachin started as an opener ( sachin and siddhu v/s NZ.
Sachin was like on 70 and Siddhu was like 5 runs in approx. 6 or 7 overs. LOL )
4. Lara (?) bowled by Waqar Younis' reverse swing leg stump uprooting yorker.
5. Akram's spectacular bowling against England in 1996.
6. Shane Warne's outside leg stump pitching but clean bowling Gooch or Gatting or someone from England.

Lara hitting Peterson for the test record of 28 runs in an over!!! Yahoo!!!

Some of the moments I remember are: (Please excuse me if lot of indian cricketing moments are here as I have followed indian cricket team more than any other team)

1. Waqar clean bowling Lara with a deadly reverse swing delivery. Lara was on "all fours" trying to dig out the delivery.

2. Azharuddin's onslaught on Klusener in Eden Gardens (i think). He hit five fours in that over.

3. Kapil Dev hitting English spinner Hemmings (??) for 4 consecutive sixes to avoid follow-on.

4. Walsh very sportingly not running out Salim Jaffer of Pakistan (??) in 1987 WC match as the batsman slipped and fell while running between wickets. WI lost that match!!

5. Jonty Rhodes running out Inzamam (??) in 1992 WC. HIs poster showing him in mid air was very famous.

6. Miandad hitting last ball six off Chetan Sharma to win the Australasia cup. (i dunno whether i like that moment or hate it :) fascinating moment though)

Mainly NZ moments because I follow it.

-The test Match in New Zealand where there was a big hole in the pitch.
-Also Cairns's innings which won NZ the 2000 knockout against India
-Flemings amazing 100 (six-fest) agaisnt the world XI and also the 10/10 game which was played when a game ended short on the same tour. Also the first 20/20 International which Australia won.
-Australia being beaten by Bangladesh
-Seeing the Warne 'ball of century' footage

And now after Seeing highlights of Tremlett hitting the bails without knocking them off for a hat trick I would almost add that to my list.

Well I have a few:
1. Bevan's strike for 4 on the last ball to beat the West Indies in Sydney 1996
2: Bevan anchoring the innings , Aus 6-86 needing 250 odd against NZ and winning in the final over at Melbourne 2001
3. Pontings hundred vs India in WC 2003 final *stunning*
4. Symonds hundred in the first game of the 2003 World Cup vs Pakistan

.

That Flintoff innings amazing to watch, especially when he and Ntini celebrated when Freddie's bat snapped in half.

Pietersen's century in the final ODI was the pick for me out of the three, simply because of the response the crowd gave. After all the trouble they had given him in the other matches, it was fantastic to see.

1. Michael Slater celebrating his hundred at Lords 1993.
2. Test series in the West Indies 1995. Australia winning at last.
3. 2001 test series in India. The batting of Laxman was imperious. A great series.
4. An innings by Andrew Flintoff versus Surrey for Lancs in 2002(?), some of the cleanest hitting.
5. A spell by Wasim Akram for Lancs versus Worcs in 1993 (?).
6. A hundred from Ricky Ponting ashes tour 1997. Under pressure all tour, came good.
7. Hundred by Steve Waugh, last ashes tour in Aus. Great drama.
8. Alan Donald v Mike Atherton Trent Bridge 1998. "That" over, so intense. Superb viewing.
9. Warne hat-trick v England ashes tour 1998
10. Aus v SA in SA 2002 listening to the "sledging" of Ashwell(sp?) Prince from the fielders, for some reason the stump mike was mixed very loudly. Not a "great" moment, but very infornative as to just what is said out in the middle.

And on a personal note, facing a delivery in the nets from Tom Moody when I was about 10 years old. Off his shorter run, bowled medium pace at the time for WA, I still ran away to square leg.

all mighty fine memories :happy

One one of my favourites is Aftab Ahmed edgeing away that single to beat Australia in one of, if not the biggest sporting shock of all time.
