Features you want to see in next iteration of Big Ant Cricket

I'd like to see a close up of the ball hitting the pad on impact when using the DRS in-game. Here is an example of when it would be useful to know how far off u were:

You mean like the pads bending on impact [graphics] ?

If thats the case there too many things which needs to get right graphical representation wise and we don not know how much of that will be possible...We would get an idea only closer to the game's release as there will be improved graphics as we go on with the academy journey towards the game release..

No, was thinking about having something like this:

There is already something similar in regards to ball impact with the stumps (if any) and it wouldn't be too complicated to implement as it would last for two seconds.

Oh ok that would be a good addition...

I mainly play test matches, so most of these will be related to that. Here's what I would like to see improve:

- Reward straight driving/in the V batting a little more, and make cross bat shots a little riskier. At the moment it is very easy to set a field that prevents any off/on/straight drives getting through and it seems that you are more likely to get an edge/caught and bowled if you play straight bat shots! I suppose it's hard to have infinite variation in placement but it seems easier to subtly change placement for crossbat shots.

- I think the edging options have got better with each patch, and are pretty good at the moment. Obviously you need to know how to bowl to get them but that is a good thing. I would like to slight higher chance of edging to slip though, because it is still quite rare (edges to point seem more common haha), and also options for other edges like top edge pulls and bat pad edges, neither of which I've ever seen I don't think.

- One other feature of edging is that umpires never seem to get them wrong! I know this should be a good thing but I guess we know that in reality sometimes edges are overturned on DRS! The only time I've seen an umpire miss one was for an LBW which was given out but overturned due to an edge. Kind of silly and not that important.

- Make leaving the ball easier. Pressing the A button is out of the way from any other shot option and thus you pretty much have to premeditate a leave (can get ugly!). Maybe pressing in a joystick could be a more natural option? I know you can just have no input to leave but i don't think it has the same +ve effect on confidence as a deliberate leave would?

- Silly (glitched) run outs are hilarious when fielding but terrible when batting. I know they are mostly down to bad input, but when the player is just casually standing cms out of crease it makes you tear your hair out.

- Make it easier to put a nightwatchman/ subtly change the batting order. At the moment if you put a nightwatchman in they swap places with other player, so every after every wicket you have to remember to put the next guy you want in. Seems like it would be an easy fix.

- More ability to make tours/test series where each game is at a different ground. Currently a 5 test series is all at the homes team's one ground. I guess this would require more grounds for each country as well.

- Injuries could be cool over the course of a match/series, would have to be uncommon + due to high fatigue/ or getting hit by a bouncer etc though I would think, not just random bad luck.

- other improvements re gameplay like confidence, or innate strengths and weaknesses having an impact on a player in game would be great, hard to implement effectively maybe without becoming too lopsided though I would think though.

Overall I have faith in BigAnt to deliver another great product. All the patches have responded to issues and made improvements nicely, so I'm sure this next iteration will take an even bigger leap forward. I still can't believe that someone could create a game that gets as close as DBC14 does to emulating the intensity and intrigue of a test match! Well done!

Hi I`m a big fan of Don Bradman Cricket 14 and I must say it is an amazing games however there are some things i would like to see in the new upcoming installment DBC17.
1. I would really like to see a system where you can communicate with your teammates better, like when batting you can tell your partner to pick up the pace in scoring or to rotate the strike or the captain can send messages in the form of tasks to the batsmen and fielders.
2.I would really like to see smarter AI and better fielding mechanics, to many times a fielder would dive through the boundary ropes when that could have been avoided and the movement is sometimes unrealistic
3. I would also like to be able to edit my career players gear and haircut after finalizing everything as i feel it can add some realism
4. Another thing is the players should have more reaction and be able to move out of the way of the ball, to many times i see a ball hit a player and the player does absolutely nothing like they feel no pain, give them more realistic human features and reactions
5. I dont have as much patience as others so i think you should be able to simulate some time in test match as sometimes i feel its to long
6.Fielders also get to much direct hits that should really be fixed

That`s all i have for now. I have absolute confidence that Big Ant to deliver another thriller of a game

so i think you should be able to simulate some time in test match
That is possible now. You can choose whether you want to sim by number overs, wickets, sessions, or just sim until you feel ready.

Can we have a proper player development and training for all players in career mode (team management mode), like There can be 3 types of player development, some players reach their potential at young age (23/24) most at 27/28 and some players starts developing at later age (say 27/28) and reach their potential at 31/32 (eg. Imran Khan , Wahab Riaz , Muhammad Yousuf) more over the initial overall skills of the generated players can be b/w 40% to 75% of their potential overall skills , In this way there will be so much dynamic player development and you can't ignore any particular player just because he had lower initial attributes as there is a chance that he can just develop in to a fine fine player similarly a player with very good initial skills may not turn out to be a world class player in future. It will make the game much more unpredictable (just like real cricket) also through consistent good performances a player potential can be shift upwards and vice versa , more over the specific attributes coaching/training can help you mould the player in the desired direction (ofcourse there shouldnt be manual skills points distribution after every season as this should be handled automatically through coaching and actually playing the desired way (just like DBC14).

Moreover you should be looking in to the feel of the game as the 150k fast bowlers doesn't look quick at all primarily because it will be impossible to play them without pitch marker as (human reflexes and reaction are not fast enough to handle it using current batting mechanics)also in to the seam and swing too (which again will be troublesome to counter under current mechanics) so there should be an option to bump up the game speed and seam/swing amount by 1.5x or 2x when watching AI vs AI games in team management mode and I will be spending my 95% of the game time watching AI vs AI games in team management mode as playing without pitch marker and dibbly dobbly bowlers without any movement on current batting mechanics is not appealing to me.

So all in all there can be hidden traits associated with each players, traits like , early boomer (player reaching potential early) , normal developing player , late boomer ,rapid decliner (frequent bad performances can shift their potential downwards) rapid riser (frequent good performances can increase their potential) balanced riser (a bit lower impact on player potential due to recent performances)

*Recent performances can be last 15 inns/matches performances.

How can good performances increase your potential? Surely it's just about being 'in form'? If you always play that well then it's your ability, form doesn't change your potential...

It just the in game mechanics from a coding point of view so that the player development can be dynamic. Also there shouldnt be a huge shift upwards just a minor boost to the overall potential (Say up to 3% per season if you really did well and -2% if you screw up) and finally it won't be apparent to the user since it is all in game calculation.

It is there in the NBA 2k games so its not unrealistic and its a understandable that if you have couple of terrific seasons than you are bound to get rated higher by experts.

All I am trying to say that player potential shouldn't be a fixed attribute like in many sports games but instead it should be slightly dynamic so as to give player a chance to improve beyond limits.

In general yes, but im not sure if im wording this correctly but can things like beating your high score or getting a tough performance increase your potential!

Like for example V. kohli hasn't got a double hundred in Tests or Fc, despite scoring lot of hundreds, now if you were to say get a couple of doubles with Kohli does it increase his potential ? which would actually translate to probably his endurance in skill set to go higher or faster so that he now has potential to make daddy hundreds, while he has struggled before!

Say for ex: Faf duplesis who has a weakness against spin makes a string of good scores in spinning pitches in india, does it improve his potential to get better at spin quicker, compared to say him scoring against spin in England!

same can be applied the other way to for say flat track bullies, who feed on mediocre bowlers on flat pitches, their skill shouldn't increase rather slowly.

So that a Hundred in tricky situations relative to the player, should have better skill increase than one in friendly conditions!

though giving it thought i can only see this helping from a AI batsman point of view more than player batsman were this will just have to be some sort of skill boost either making it higher or go faster than normal skill boost!

Can Potential be called as ' Relative Skill boost'

Im not sure on this though i could be talking nonsense here!
