[FFX]: West Coast Eagles: Kings Of The Big Game (Tight Game in Sydney)

Based on how the Eagles have been going,I`m tipping them. It`ll be a tough ask for Adam Hunter to go on Buddy. Looking forward to seeing how this match pans out.

The West Coast Eagles have jumped ahead in the first quarter here in Launceston. The Hawks led most of the quarter and dominated the play but West Coast hit back with two late goals to sneak in front.

Lance Franklin has seven disposals and has kicked the Hawks' only three goals of the term. For the Eagles, Matt Rosa, Mark Lecras and Josh Kennedy have booted all the majors.

Franklin took the first two goals of the game, both set shots from around 30 directly in front. It wasn't until the 12 minute mark of the quarter that the Eagles got their first goal through Kennedy.

Rosa then goaled from a set shot 55 metres out, before Franklin kicked one of "those" goals from the pocket.

West Coast grabbed the last of the term through Lecras, converting from a free kick directly in front 20 metres out.

The Eagles have had their chances however, having 9 scoring shots to the Hawks' 6.

The Hawks' lead both the hitout and the clanger count, while the Eagles have had five more disposals and three more inside fifties for the match.

Franklin kicked one of "those" goals from the pocket.

Its a bloody fluke. Good lead going into the 2nd quarter. Another good update, you better bloody lead the useless Hawks by half-time.

The third term was similar to the first, with the Eagles bursting away through goals from Lecras and Lynch, before Rioli (twice) and Franklin responded.

Wesy Coast were up by as many as fourteen points, and had dominated most of the play for the term, before Cyril Rioli decided play like we know he can. Hawthorn managed the next three goals - and two of them to Rioli.

Franklin has 5 goals and 17 possessions, and is proving a handful for the West Coast backline. For the Eagles, Embley has 21 disposals, and Lynch has four goals.

Another thriller, so I'm gonna have to build it up again

Fourth Quarter:

The Eagles got off to a flier in the opening minutes of the last term, but were terrible in front of goal, kicking 1.5 from their six chances, including two misses in the goal square from Ashley Hansen and Eric Mackenzie. The Eagles were out to a nine point lead nontheless.

Lynch the bagged his fifth for the game, before Franklin replied with his 6th. The Hawks then banged on three more to put them in front by eight points with ten minutes remaining.

The Eagles struggled valiantly to close the gap, but could only manage three behinds. With 5 minutes to go, the Hawks cleared the ball out of their defensive fifty, only for it to land on the chest of Scott Selwood.

He dished it off to Beau Waters, who ran around three Hawks, straighten up the angle and with a piercing left foot kick from 50 out, the Eagles were back in front.

Quarter Time
WCE 8.7.55 v FRE 2.0.12

derby-7-600x400.jpg

The West Coast Eagles are absolutely dominating Fremantle at Subiaco Oval today. The Eagles kicked the first sevengoals of the game, and have had their best ever first quarter in 8.7.55. Their previous best was 8.4.52 against Carlton in round 15, 2003.

The Eagles had the first 11 inside 50s, and still lead the count 24-4.

The Eagles led by as much as 49 points at the 15 minute mark of the first term, before Matthew Pavlich kicked a superb boundary on the run for the Dockers, finally putting them on the scoreboard.

Mitchell Brown had kicked the first goal of the afternoon within 48 seconds of the beginning of play, marking a drilled pass from Mark Lecras at about 15 metres out, and converted the goal from dead in front.

Josh Kennedy then was given a free kick from around 50 out on a 45 degree angle, and was able to slot that through to give the Eagles a 2 goal lead.

Midfielder Matthew Priddis then joined in the action after Nicholas Naitanui got the tap down to him from a ball up deep in Fremantle's defensive 50, and Priddis made no mistake kicking it through.

Mitchell Brown then doubled his tally, converting another set shot, this one from 30 on a tough angle. Quentin Lynch then banged one home from outside 50, before Rosa managed to break through a series of tackles and goal a minute later.

The West Coast were now leading 7.7.49 to Fremantle's 0.0.0. but Matt Pavlich kept the Dockers alive three minutes later.

Ben McKinley then cancelled Pavlich out however, a remarkable 23 seconds later, kicking a goal on the run from 50 out right on the boundary.

Des Headland however gave Fremantle something to cheer about, dribbling through a mesmeric goal from the boundary line with 0:23 remaining on the clock.

Interestingly however, Fremantle have only had ten less possessions than the Eagles, and 20 less inside 50's. If Mark Harvey is aware of these statistics, he will no doubt be making some changes for the second quarter.

Goals (WCE): Brown 2, Lynch, Staker, Priddis, Rosa, Kennedy, McKinley
Top Possessions (WCE): Lynch (10), A.Selwood (7), Priddis (7)
Gone Cold (WCE): Stenglien (0), Mackenzie (1)
