Final: Netherlands v Spain, Sunday 11 July 2010 at 18:30 GMT

Well done Spain..

the first half of the game was boring, but enjoyed watching the final (had skipped my college today)

So the octopus thing is over? that animal has got the fame  i already see people queuing up for an appointment in the aquarium :laugh

The Octopus is resided in Germany. Most people, if they visit him, don't want to just look at him.

great match, loved the dutch defence and Spain's defence was somehow sloppy.
Luck was with spain, so they won.

A.Iniesta was playing pretty well in all the match and finally got his prize as a goal. Great match absolutely. He missed an easy chance earlier in the match.
Robben got two easy chances but missed them. Casillas was at his bloody best.

The real "Gloden Generation" have won haa. Big up to other very talented spanish players of the last 10 years such as Raul, Guti, Joaquin, Vicente, Hierro, Morientes, Mendieta, Del Horno, Salgado, Luis Garcia, Valeron, Helguera who never won anything.

Absolutely. I thought Spain had a very good chance in 2002 as well, had they not been cheated out in the QFs against South Korea. Raul & Mendieta especially are too good to have not won a World Cup.

P.S - I would have Santiago Canizares, Ruben Baraja, Diego Tristan and David Albelda on that list as well.

Disappointed at David Villa not scoring in this game, he should have been playing on the left like he did in the earlier matches. Well done to Spain, Iniesta was brilliant and so was Casillas.

Wanted Netherlands to win, but at least I can now say.... NZ is the only unbeaten team!!! Haha :P

Congratulations to Spain. Wanted the Dutch to win but I guess the better team won on the night. Robben should scored when he was played in by Sneijder and I find it pathetic that the Dutch are blaming Howard Webb for their loss. I support Netherland but hey, a loss is a loss. And besides, they should count themselves lucky to have Van Bommel and De Jong on the pitch after the 90 minutes. Anyway, congrats to Spain once again. :)

P.S Now that the World Cup is over, I can look forward to the domestic seasons in Europe next month. :laugh

After 90 minutes Netherlands and New Zealand are the only unbeaten teams.

Also this match was the last match of van Bronckhorst, the Dutch captain. He had a great career. He became champion with several club and also won the Champions League with Barcelona.

I am so happy for Spain but Dutch player really well!!

Some say negative tactics some say other things, but It was a 75% type of final. Not so exciting but not so boring tooo!!

Watched whole match till 2:30 AM. I was just waiting for Spain to score in extra time because Netherlands were just waiting for penalty kicks. Sad to see Villa with no goal but in the end it was all spain. Dutch tried hard Spain GK was brilliant on field.

Check out this picture. :laugh

^^ That picture is awesome :p

Paul way!!

I do not think there was any refree mistakes. Dutch were playing foul game but that was part of their tactic. Few Decisions were wrong like that crossbar shot and no corner given but in all no problem I think!!

Yea Spain could have gone far in 2002. S Korea got bloody lucky in some of those games, stupid golden-goal rule i hated that thing.

I reckon Raul could have made the EURO 2008 squad.

Plus yea how could i forget Canizares & co. What ever happened to Del Horno though??. Such a quality left-back over here for Chelsea.
