Final: Netherlands v Spain, Sunday 11 July 2010 at 18:30 GMT

So this is it, Spain and Netherlansd
I predicted Spain to win before the WC started and I still reckon they can pwn it, but Netherlands have come a long way, anything is possible

The Netherlands have won all their qualifying matches and all their World Cup matches.

Spain are the European champions and with this win they could be double headed champions.

From Netherlands de Jong en van der Wiel will come back from suspension.

For Spain Pedro should start. He really made a good impression.

And the way it's going it's almost Barcelona vs Netherlands. In the match against Germany I believe 6 players from Barcelona were in the starting line-up. It's actually 7 if you already count Villa with it. From the Dutch side there are a couple of players who have played for the Barcelona in the past, like van Bommel en van Bronckhorst.

Pedro certainly made a difference last night. As a player and also because he allowed Villa to move upfront from that left winger position. He messed up a great opportunity to double Spain's lead in the end but I guess thats fine since this was his first competitive start.

And its not a Barcelona side. Yes 6-7 Barcelona players in there, but Ramos, Capdevila, Alonso and the best goalkeeper in the world are all equally important to that team as the rest. Not to mention all those on the bench as well.

I don't understand what you mean by this?

Yeah, that's what I meant. I've corrected it in my post.

The thing that surprises me is that Spain didn't score many goals in this tournament.

Ok. In that case Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder and Klaas Jan Huntelaar are ex-Madridistas. VDV still is with us ofcourse. Khalid Boulahrouz is ex-Sevilla, Heitinga played for Pathetico for one season.

What impressed me about Pedro was that he knew when to stay wide and stretch the play, and when to come inside and find space between the lines.

Spain vs Germany was basically Barcelona vs Inter Milan all over again. The spain squad is definitely heavy with Barca players.

Netherlands are 24 or 25 games now unbeaten? They won't be push-overs and I think they'll steal it 1-0.

Holland to win 2-1. It will be a very tense affair and Sneijder will score to be outright topscorer in the tournament. Who would have thought that!?

Given Sneijder's form leading up to the tournament, it would not be that much of a surprise.

Given that Spain and Netherlands both had flawless qualifying campaigns and near flawless World cup campaigns so far (flawless for the Dutch), this final is certainly the most fitting.

Spain's defence was awesome against Germany, and it was pretty much the closest to the usual game they have mastered over the past 4 years. If Spain can keep that up in the final, they will win it.

Also I don't rate the Dutch backline one bit and would be surprised if Villa and co. are not able to take advantage.

Well Sneijder isn't really a striker is he? There are lots of big names that have failed in that department. Anyway I was mesmerized by Spain's ball control and the Dutch will need some luck but my heart says that it is their cup this year! I live in holland and this place is going barmy already. You wait till Monday or Tuesday when they return home. If they win or lose they are going to get a massive reception!

Best referee in the tournament is in charge of the final. Finally FIFA get something right. Go on Howard Webb, do your country proud when our players couldn't.

PS: Spain to win it ;)
