FOOTBALL Football Manager Discussion

yeh it does, but it always comes us with an update, and then when I ask for offline mode and then it tells me I have to connect to the Internet. could it be that my steam account is logged on somewhere else?

I just installed it not using steam. I tried Steam first but it was taking too long to download it via steam so I tried it via offline or whatever that was and it didn't have to do that. I just download updates if I need them.

Well I'm being American Samoa in hope to take them high. I'm using a Power Regen database so there are more regens from other nations so I should get a few regens over time. Anyway, I was around 200th in the World Rankings to start off with. First game I played was against Soloman Islands where I lost 3-0.

I then went on a good streak recording the following results.

Tuvalu - 2-1
Seychelles - 1-0
Zanzibar - 2-1
Aruba - 2-0

Then came the Oceanian Nations Cup.

I recorded 3 wins and a draw in the Preliminary Round, finishing first. I then managed to finish second in the actual league, behind New Zealand. I had drawn New Zealand but had lost to Fiji.

So I was up against New Zealand in the final where I won 2-1 in the first leg, at home. He managed to beat me 1-0 in the second leg though, winning on Away Goals.

Another good run from then on saw me beat Antigua and Barbuda, Lebanon, Fiji, New Caledonia and Tonga before drawing 1-1 to New Zealand. (All friendlies). I was on fire, winning my next 6 friendlies.

Then came the WCQ's. I then climbed the rankings up into 54th after wins against Solomon Islands, New Zealand and Fiji. (End of 2011/Start of 2012)

An undefeated campaign saw me win the Oceanian Nations Cup second time around.

My record high came in February 2013 when I moved up to 44th in the Rankings.

The downfall came though when I took part in the Confederations Cup. First up was 1st Ranked Team, Argentina where a penalty gave me a consolation goal but I still lost 3-1. Then #2 ranked team, England. Again a pleasing result only losing 2-0. Then Mexico and for some reason, it was the worst result, trashed 5-0 giving me last place and I had dropped way back down in the rankings to 68th.

So I am up to November, 2013 now. I had to play Japan in the World Cup Qualifier playoff. All or nothing. I had played really well in the first leg, being 0-0 for so long and I finally got my reward, Pino scoring a screamer from the edge of the box (only in his second match) in the 90th minute and I went home with a 1-0 win. I now come back home to play Japan in the second leg so a draw will do it and take me to the World Cup.

My standout players have been:

Jon Carey - 52 caps, 21 goals
Danny Wilcox - 20 caps, 0 goals, Played superbly in goals.

Speaking of Oceanic minnows - I played a year or two with the Papua New Guinea national team - let's just say it was a year to forget.

We managed to scramble a 1-1 draw against Cook Islands, but we lost our other 14 games including friendlies against American Samoa, Wallis & Futuna Islands, Sao Tome and Principe and other sides ranked lower than us in the world..

An experience to forget. However, I then took over a team in the PNG Second Division (Club Championship) and had a bit of success with them, signing a few players from New Zealand, Samoa and Tonga who gave a bit more power to our team and ended up getting promotion - my goal is to gain enough money to get a decent academy which will in turn strengthen PNG national forces greatly..

Sports Interactive forums. Here's the link. I think they only increased the Youth Facilities to 20 for some clubs in each nation. I did put the Training Facilities to about 10 for the clubs that had good Youth Facilities as if you are being a lower nation like ASA for example, the players won't really go to higher clubs despite being good enough for them and after a while, there stats will really decline instead of improve. You also have to signup to download it. (I think)

Actually, in FM09, I managed PNG. I couldn't win a game if that makes you feel any better. The annoying thing is that I fill the national ground out every game and the game against Wallis & Futuna Islands was the lowest Crowd Size and that was about 3000/5000 Cap and I can't Upgrade Stadium Size as it's the clubs decisions but the club is the poorest in the Division so it won't be upgrading any time soon. I hope I never host the World Cup. It would be a disaster having a Max 5,000 national ground and others that hold up to only about 3000.

Currently compiling a list for a new database I am making for FM10. It's a celebrity league named the Strongbow Celebrity League. It'll be based in England as an amateur competition. Reputation and finances will be low and being an amateur league it shouldn't attract many signings at all. I'm not going to date of birth and all that rubbish, just add their names and let the db do the rest.

Here are the lists I have so far. They won't be that great because it's difficult getting 25 people with massive popularity. So far I have just UK and American teams.

Hasn't been a post in here for a few months. I made a new database. A weird sort of idea that probably won't work but it's fun never the less. So I have created no new leagues but instead put a whole lot of leagues into the same nation. I've used England. There are 65 leagues into 16 levels. Most of the tiers are made up of 4 or 5 leagues except for the top few and the bottom one with is 3. English Premier Division is lone at the top. (Divisions and Tiers are based on reputation). Then I have Spanish and Italian in the second tier, Germany and France in the third tier and then it just keeps going down. There is only one league representing each nation so there is no CC Championship for example. So it will take probably 8-10 years to shape up the divisions. I have 6 teams relegating from the top division so the league will be filled up by better teams quicker.

I'm playing with Porto at the moment and nearly completed a whole season. I signed a new 15 year old star at the start of the season (now 16) who is pretty good but the reports are showing he will be an excellent striker later on in his career. I've also signed 2 other nice young prospects which should make the first team in a couple of years. It's been a contesting season. I drew a hard group in the Champions League with Sevilla, Marseille and Zurich. I ended up finishing third only in front of Zurich. I reached the fifth round in the big KO cup before losing to AS Nancy Lorraine 2-1. After being knocked out of both of the big tournaments, I focused back on the league and the Euro Cup. I'm currently in the semi finals of the EURO Cup and playing AC Milan. I drew the first leg 0-0 away from home so I have a good chance at home now. It's the Liga Sagres that is promising to have an excellent end to the season. Benfica have already been guaranteed promotion with 2 games to go and I sit in second, 6 points behind with Sporting and Braga right on my tail. I still can take the title though as I have Benfica in my next league game. If I win that, I definately have a chance with Academica in my final league game although they are currently sitting in 6th. Benfica have 4th place Braga though in their last game which I'm hoping for a Braga win and if they do, I'll take the title on GD (if I do win my last 2 games). Hulk has been excellent this season scoring 22 league goals in 22 matches but is currently out with an injury which will see him miss the EURO Cup Semi-Final and probably the match against Benfica and he has scored 6 continental goals as well this season in 10 matches. Falcao has also been good with 15 goals and 15 assists over all competitions. I hope I can take the EURO Cup as well as the Liga Sagres but it will be tough. I'll probably face Fiorentina in the final if I win since they are up 3-0 on the first leg against Rangers.

EURO Cup is mine after I beat Fiorentina 1-0 in the final. I also defeated Benfica 3-0 somehow and now need Braga to beat them if I want the Liga Sagres title. Assuming I beat Academica.

Unfortunately, Benfica beat Braga 2-0 to take the title by 3 points. Hulk made his first international appearance a few days ago but was sent off so not a good start to his international career. He has been selected in Brazil's World Cup squad so hopefully he gets some game time.

lol. The World Cup Quarter Final goes down to penalties and it took 17 shots each to finally get a winner. Scotland didn't miss a single penalty in their 17 attempts.
