FOOTBALL Football Manager Discussion

Well played Treva. But doesn't going from a championship team that's been promoted 2 seasons on the trot to Finland seem a bit of a step down?

Yeah, definitely. Unfortunately I signed the contract mid-season, and although we looked likely to make the play-offs I couldn't be sure.

I'm actually attempting the pentagon challenge, to win all 5 continent champions league competitions, so wanted to go to a club with European football. I'm glad to say Bradford stayed up the next season.

haha, I'm doing that challenge albeit slowly. I plan on going all the way around the world although the Asian Champions League is going to be very tough. Might go over to New Zealand after this season. Don't think I'll be staying in China much longer.

Ah okay.

My squad is on the brink on collapse. I was beating Wigan 1-0 having had 9 clear cut chances and conceded in the last minute. I can't blame the team though as I was playing with 10 players due to an injury and the majority of the squad was on 60% fitness.

Had one of those moments of genius in the next game though. Was 2-0 down to Fulham at half time and my team talk turned the game around and we won 4-2.

Ok, well I got a bit tired of managing in China so I resigned following my 2-0 defeat against Beijing in the Asian Champions League 2nd Round. Will wait to see what jobs I get offered.

Started a new save as unemployed and applied for the first job available at P.Ferreira in Portugal and they accepted. This should be fun.

So my first couple games were pretty difficult at Braga and against Porto at home but won the first one 1-0 and drew the second 1-1. Pretty good position to be in after 3 games -

"First" win at the Nou Camp. :D

I did beat Barcelona at the Nou Camp in the Villarreal save but they started their 'B' side in that one. So, that pretty much took out the excitement compare to the one above! :D

Drew the second leg 1-1 despite having just one shot all game! :lol

In the semi final, this happened! :D

Boom. Bye bye Helsinki (Had a pretty poor season bar a Champions League 2nd Round Qualifier win), hello Buenos Aires and River Plate. Excited to take them over after they've gone three seasons without the title. Will join in October though, so I assume that means I play out the rest of the Finnish season, if they don't sack me for taking the job...

Just about holding onto my champions league qualification challenge. 3 of my last 4 wins have come in the last 10 minutes.

Based on form, I'm the best team in the league, but I have the fixture list from hell to finish off the season.

An emotional roller coaster to say the least.

I beat Chelsea 5-3 in a classic. I went 1-0 down before battering them 5-1, but I switched off in the last 10 minutes and Chelsea should've drawn the game. The next game against City I lost 1-0 and never really looked like winning. The squad is totally drained with 2 games left against Arsenal and Spurs. Marveux, Cabaye and Wilfried have all been injured for the season and Ba misses the game against Arsenal.

Knocked out of the Champions League by Zilina. Desperately trying to salvage this season by getting into the Europa League group stages. Have to beat Ukranian side Volyn over two legs. If we don't, then this season will go down as the worst of my career (Probably even worse than my time at Thurrock because of our status as league and cup champions).

@ Mani: The game sure have a tendency of throwing up matches pitting the FM players against the big teams in consecutive games. Good luck in your remaining ones. :thumbs

River have tweaked me over. Just before my last game with HJK they decide they aren't going to pay the compensation needed to have me and cancel our contract. Absolute pricks.

Time to leave Helsinki and find a new club.

Scratch that, I'm now River manager apparently...

Now how's that?
