Football Transfers Thread

I hope Hleb joins Inter so that he can actually win some silverware. If only he had stayed at Stuttgart then he would have been part of the champions side last season.

Right, since Inter are a bigger and better football team aren't they? He won't win anything there he won't win here.

I can undertsand AC but Inter?

well they will probably win their own league and cup but thats about it...and arsenal will be winning those in a year or two time as well if the buy some experienced quality players in summer than maybe even next year

To be fair, Inter are about to win their third successive Italian title, whereas Milan might not get into Europe. However, I'm surprised about Flamini and Hleb (if he does move), they're leaving the best league in europe and an emerging team to go to, in Flamini's case at least, a team with a set of players on the decline. I guess it shows money talks. I think I'd be a little annoyed as an Arsenal fan about the wage structure, but in fairness to Wenger, he's got principles on the matter and he's sticking to them.

Well winning the domestic league is the most important for any club, and Hleb has a better chance of achieving that at Inter than at Arsenal.

I know English clubs have done well this season in Europe, but that doesnt mean the Italians and Spanish teams wont bounce back. It was not so long ago that we had an all-Italian final, and three teams out of the four in the semis were Italian sides.

Inter have a very strong team, and Hleb knows that. But they always seem to underachieve in Europe.

Even I was surprised with Flamini not because he left Arsenal but because he decided to join an ageing Milan side that might not even play in the CL next season. (although they did take fourth place after the win over Inter last weekend)

But Milan do still have the name, glamour and history. It is still a dream move for any footballer.

And to be fair to Milan, they have taken steps in the right direction by signing younger players in recent times. They do have one of the best players in the world in Kaka, as well as Pato who is just unbelievable for someone of his age.

Chelsea have signed Bosingwa

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/chelsea/7395831.stm

Does anyone else wonder what Chelski's scouts do, do they just look at players that United are linked to?

We are linked with Duff - Chelsea buy him
We are linked with Robben - Chelsea buy him
We are linked with Essien - Chelsea buy him
We are linked with Mikel - Chelsea buy him (slightly different cos we actually pipped them to that one)
We are linked with Ballack - Chelsea buy him
We are linked with Bosingwa - Chelsea buy him

at first it was peter kenyon who screwed us over. he took our list of scouted players to chelsea. Bosingwa is a good player and it's nice to see him in the premiership but not nice that chelsea got him

Well to be fair, Bosingwa was a Chelsea target even before we got Boulahrouz last season. We have been looking for a right back from sometime after both Ferreira and Belletti have disappointed there. Ferreira isnt consistent enough while Belleti isnt good defensively.

The only players you could say we stole were Robben and Mikel.

Also to be fair, almost every player going worth anything gets linked to all the big clubs in England these days.

Inter are a far better side than AC. AC have just gotten too old to do any good. The likes of Maldini, Inzaghi, Cafu (although he doesn't play that often anymore)... should all have hung up their boots a long time ago. AC Milan only just scraping 4th place proves what a poor side they are. I watch them most weeks and as soon as any player(s) break through their defence, its a definate goal because AC's oldies at the back can't keep up. The only good, young quality players they have are Alexandre Pato and Kaka. If I was Hleb I'd definately go to Inter over AC and Arsenal because AC won't win anything for another few years if they don't get some young players in and Arsenal just can't keep up with Manchester United and Chelsea, plus the fact their manager is a genius however he seems to think that only young players in his squad will win him trophies, when he needs at least one or two experienced heads in the side to push the youngsters like Fabregas, Walcott... along.

I still don't know why people think we can't keep up with United and Chelsea when we were leading them for nearly 5 months with one 2 week interruption.

And Wenger had stated that he intends to buy players who are already proven.

I love Gilberto. He's been a great servant to the club and I'd braced myself for his departure but he wanst to stay.

Yeah fair point about the media linking us with lots of players, but iirc I think Ferguson said about Essien and we were strongly linked with getting Ballack on a free at the end of his Bayern Munich contract.

Weren't United top over Christmas for a few days as well? I presume the time you're thinking of is late-January?

if i was gilberto i would leave now...wenger will def. be adding a def. midfielder (yaya) and he will probably be reserved to the bench again...

also ben afra has himself admitted with having talks with arsenal and wiki and some other reliable:) sites are saying that arsenal have already signed gomez from stuttgart...well from what i have seen, he looks like a really good striker with a phenomenel goals to game ratio and would fit in perfectly with the squad as he's only 22 now...also abiol and vincient kompany have been linked to arsenal as well...

GET IN THERE WENGER...put the money where your mouth is

Yeah. 'Bout then.

oh dear covlad I am angry with you,

Arsenal vs Man U --- Set piece goal loses us 3 points. If that free kick and penalty had not been given we would have got +3 Man U -3 and we would have beaten chelsea and won the FA Cup

Champions League --- -penalty in the last 10 loses us the match

Im not whinging but im proving how capable arsenal are.....by the time the next season starts the boys will be raring to go and to prove they can do what they have the potential to do. We do need 1-2 decent signings and although not sure what is happening with Villa if we get him then we will be even stronger.

As Cov said correctly Wenger is a genius and if next year we win a trophy or two we will be the dominant force in English football with the potential in our squad.

However i think wenger slaps himself in the face as he always trys to buy players he finds to make him look good, why can the spend our cash on a superstar to add experiance rather than buying future players, if you always look to the future, there will never be a time to use it

Vela, Traore, Merida, Nordveit, Gibbs, Randall, Mannone, Simpson and Barazite will all be first team fringes next season and this just shows the future we have

anyone who says arsenal cannot keep up with Chelsea andn Man U I beg to differ :p
