Football Transfers Thread

Unless United get a through the roof offer for Ronaldo, then it's not a great situation. After saying he's not for sale, it would be surrender by selling him now, and it would set a precedent with the likes of Nani and Anderson still at the club.

Therefore, having reconsidered, it maybe would be better to keep him, and screw him over, he's got too big an ego, not to carry on playing at a good level, and we sell him a year or two down the line on our terms.

If he does go, we need 70 million + straight, none of this installments nonsense.

*Of course, the above only counts if he says he wants to go, there's still evidence he's haggling for a new contract, which I think might be happening.*

Man Utd should refuse to sell Ronaldo simply to teach him a lesson and to deflate his ego. He dreams of playing in Spain, fair enough, but do it further down the line. I can't believe he is contemplating leaving the best team in Europe for a mess like Real Madrid. For me, there are two decent clubs in Spain - Sevilla and Barcelona.

Id like to see united get bentley as long as the price is right, he is a really good talent. Also if real want Ronaldo so much then united can have casilias and ramos and robben please maybe 10m on top of that aswell lads.

Lol! Possibly the best keeper in the world (seeing as Cech is horribly out of form), one of the brightest prospects in world football and a proven world class international plus 10m for one player who some people still doubt performs on the biggest stages?

No-one likes Madrid but that's just rubbish.

Ronaldo has performed on bigger stages than Robben, he ripped Michael Essien (imo one of the best centre midfielders around at the moment) apart in the first half of the Champions League final. There's no bigger stage than that.

World Cup final maybe, but then Ronaldo has to reach there.

Anyways I'd be really angry if Real actually pay 70 million or anything near that. He is NOT needed, and despite what Sneijder says, we can win the Champions League without him. Robben might not be as good as Ronaldo, but our midfield is already strong with Robben, Sneijder, Gago, Baptista, Diarra, Robinho, Guti and Higuain. If at all we need to get someone its a left back, and probably another central defender.

And despite what you think, for most players, a move to Real Madrid is a dream come true. Fact.

what's wrong with Marcelo and Drenthe?

Marcelo is crap defensively. Really bad. Drenthe can play as a left winger, but again cant defend. We do have Heinze, but Schuster likes playing him in the middle, so basically if at all we need someone, its gotta be a proper left back.

I should have said on the club stage, but domestic football is generally better than international football anyway.

For Portuguese, Spanish, South American players maybe, but so is a move to United.

To quote Ronaldo when he signed:

"I am very happy to be signing for the best team in the world, and especially proud to be the first Portuguese player to join Manchester United."

Contrary to media agenda, Ronaldo actually supported Benfica as a kid, not Madrid. He said in a recent interview, the first European cup final he watched was Milan vs Juve in 2003. If he was such a big fan of Madrid, I'm sure he would have watched the 2002 one.

Lol at Madrid's great centre back Heinze:p.

When Toni joined Bayern last year he said they were the best team in the world. Thats what you say when you join.

I am not saying joining United is not a dream move, but just that joining Madrid is a bigger dream move. Maybe it is more for the Spanish, Portuguese and South Americans.....but that does includes a lot of players.

But 70mil for Ronaldo is straight no for me. No way! He'll probably disrupt the awesome balance in our side anyways.

United need to demand 70 million for Ronaldo at least, and we should really be looking for more, so Madrid get desperate.

Sorry for the double post.

The media, and in particular the BBC have sunk to a new low today.

First of all, this news came out on Thursday night, through an interview with Guilliem *I know a lot* Balague.

Secondly, where in it does he say he wants to go to Madrid? It's very lazy journalism. They have took it as meaning Madrid to suit their agenda, it's very lazy journalism.

They seem to have missed out an important quote:

Guillem: You know that when you return to Manchester people will be upset with you

Ronaldo: But that will pass, a couple of good goals and people will be happy

Does that sound like someone who is leaving?

If Guilliem Balague and other hacks are allowed to spread nonsense around the internet, then why aren't I.;)

FYI, that is still going ahead.
