I always had my doubts on Berbatov. Always saw him as one who would do well for the not so big teams. And I still hold that view. I would definitely not spend 30 million + on him, but then neither would I spend 56 million on Kaka or 80 million on Cristiano Ronaldo, but instead spend the combined 166 million on David Villa.

?166m on Villa? Would that be David Villa, or Aston Villa?

When he's worth ?40-50m tops. Good move

Thats how much his shoes cost. Berbatov, Kaka, Ronaldo are mere mortals that money can buy, but Villa is priceless - so 166m is a steal!

I clearly mentioned Aston Villa, dint I?

So, it looks as though Tevez will go to City unless Chelsea can scupper the deal. So you wouldn't go to Liverpool, but you'll go to City eh, Carlos? Obviously, you didn't remember the level of feeling between the two sets of fans at the Manchester Derby. I don't think he'll get a good reception when he comes back...

Liverpool fan here, Seeing alot of people criticising Rafa for spending 17 m on Johnson but i think this will be a great buy for us. as he is a pacey , strong and has attacking threat too, Yes we have Arbeloa who has been immense for us last season but Johnson does bring something new he can play as RB / RM something we missed in our wing backs for time, Remember utd paid 18 million for Carrick back in 2006 people were shocked the amount that was paid but he has done well for them. Touch wood Johnson will do something similar for us as he is only 24 so he has time to adapt to our style of play you cannot become hero from day one so it will take time so all the best to Glen! and hope to see few more signings.

18 million for a right back is too much though, as much as I agree that he will probably be a good player for them. It shows the lack of English talent to be honest, because the English players that we have got are then sold at inflated prices. In fairness Carrick was actually only 14 million, with an extra couple of million depending on various circumstances. At least Rafa can't use his apparent lack of spending power as an excuse now I suppose.

Don't tell me the editor of Sky Sports transfer updates uses Wikipedia as a source as it looks like he's been duped by a bullshit story.
