Alonso > Mascherano for me.

Owen shouldn't have been given the number 7 shirt, the biggest reason is it'll just annoy fans more. There's something still not right about him being in the shirt. I still wouldn't be surprised to see us go out and get another player despite what Fergie says, although it is obvious where a lot of the Ronaldo money is going.:rolleyes

Still, I'm optimistic about the new season, we seem to do even better after we're written off. We weren't even considered as contenders ahead of the 06/07 season and that goes down as probably my favourite title win.

Not to mention 95/96 (sorry to keep going on about that, but this situation reminds me of it so much!)

And I agree - Sir Alex has something up his sleeve. You seriously reckon he'd sell someone like Ronaldo and not bring at least a ?20m man in?

Edit: Citizens about to sign Tevez.

MasterBlaster76 added 12 Minutes and 42 Seconds later...

They've signed him and, you're going to love this fellow Utd fans, he's wearing the No.32 shirt!

Adebayor isn't in talks with City. Arsenal are. No less than ?25m thanks.

Why would Tevez leave Utd for City? Surely a step in the wrong direction for his ability

Not really, he wasn't getting much of a go at United. City are hopeless though - he shouldn't go there.

Money, it seems.

I know it's a stock answer for anyone moving to City but Tevez is owned by an individual rather than a club. There's more in it for Kia Joorabchian if his client gets more money. Plus, Tevez left United because the contract offer wasn't enough to make Tevez feel respected.

If what's reported in the papers is true, then Tevez is in it for the money.

Interesting Michael Owen has 7 for United. That shirt makes people play better - so I'm predicting a comeback for the little fella.

No idea why he was given number 7 given the scepticism over his move plus the fact that he played for Liverpool.

We gave Senderos number 6 and look how that turned out. :p

I dont think its a crime to make your decision based on the money though. Obviously not at the cost of affecting your career but lets face it, just because City have not done much in the past does not mean they cant do anything in the future

I can understand why he wanted to leave: if I was him and was always put on the bench while Berbatov just strolls around the pitch, I'd be annoyed as well.

Well, Sir Alex said on SSN today that he texted and called him during the holiday and he didn't get back to him. The thing is, he only scored four goals last year at Utd. Regardless of whether or not he was on the bench, he should've got a lot more than that if you consider the amount of time he did spend on the pitch. Ciddy have got themselves a right little worker there though, I'll say that.

I must be one of the only Utd fans here who think he will do OK at Utd! The No.7 says to me that Sir Alex is putting faith in him to be a first team regular, otherwise he'd give him, I dunno, No.32? :D

Can we get rid of this myth that Tevez has gone elsewhere to play games please, from the start.

He made 51 appearances for United last season. Given that City are not in Europe at all, they will struggle to play that many games whatsoever, and if they do it will be through cup runs involving replays. Secondly, City also have Santa Cruz, Bellamy, Robinho and may possibly bring in Adebayor, which means Tevez won't play anywhere near every game or else the others will be unhappy.

He's a greedy twat who's gone there for the money, and he deserves the reception he'll get at Old Trafford next season.

Tevez > Santa Cruz and Bellamy, and Robinho can be played as a winger, although thats why he left us.

And nothing wrong in being greedy (remember they are footballers and not social workers) although I am sure he will get more importance at City. Its not about the number of games, but the fact that he always felt second to Berbatov at Manure.

City aren't not going to not play Santa Cruz, Bellamy and Adebayor (if he does sign) at all having only just signed them. Let's have another look at this at the end of the season, because I really don't think it will have been a wise move for Tevez.

Tevez says that he hasn't received a call or message from Fergie for two years. I think Carlitos doesn't know how to use a phone. Or maybe Fergie dialled the wrong number (possibly Owen's).

I booked mine for ?57.
Are you shitting me? ?57 for a shirt  I have quite a collection of footie shirts, if this starts to be the norm it'll be the end of that collection. They can't cost much more than a fiver to make, I grudgingly accepted the ?40 mark but ?70 is just taking the piss.
