Football Transfers Thread

Bloody Man City. It's teams like that who will stifle young English talent trying to come through - how can they compete against established megastars - which is exactly what City will buy? Their owners don't give a stuff about the England team. It's time for a wage cap and limit on foreigners.

Marca report that Yaya to City is done with Barca getting 32.5 million euros. Will be made official soon.

Manchester City will be hated even more right now. And I do hope Silva doesn't sign for them and that idiotic Mancini. I would rather see him stay in Spain even if he do not join Chelsea.

According to the Spanish press, City have bid as much as 45 million euros for Silva. Valencia however are now in a position of rejecting any more offers for their players if the Mata to Barcelona rumours are true (denied so far by Manuel Llorente).

Sir Alex has always admired Joe Cole - and now here he is, available on a free - why isn't he signing him? He's not that old, and isn't usually injury prone. Wonder if Sir Alex has someone else up his sleeve? That can be the only reason I can think of - Joe Cole wants to come to Utd as well.

Sir Alex must have someone else lined up - otherwise why turn down such a class player, who wants to play for the club and won't cost a penny? He must have someone big lined up to turn a free Joe Cole down. I hope it happens somehow - it would be brilliant for the England team as well - Joe Cole would be played more at Utd than at Chelski.

Valencia had a very impressive first season, and Nani seems to be stepping up to the plate. I guess SAF is putting faith in these guys instead of signing Cole who wants something like 125k a week.

After seeing Hernandez, I'm beginning to think we don't need a new striker - he has looked very good at this World Cup. :)

Yeah and he'll add that variety I think we lacked last season. Chelsea were miles ahead in terms of goals last season so that's something Utd clearly needed improving and I think with Hernandez we have a quality player (or potentially quality) who will offer variation from Rooney and Berbatov.

Now that the World Cup is over (for England), I am hoping that Gerrard will come out and say that he is going nowhere...

I hope there will be more transfer business happening around now that some of the big teams are out of the World Cup.

We've signed Angel di Maria for 25 million euros. Six year contract and he should slot straight into the left wing. Would have preferred Silva or Mata but then they would have cost a lot more.

Is that Mourinho's first signing? Who is he planning to sign and get rid of? Man City look to be signing Silva and apparently Barca want Mata.

It is Mourinho's first signing. Raul, Guti and Drenthe are almost certain to leave while Benzema's situation seems uncertain as well. I've heard about the Silva to City and Mata to Barca rumours but Valencia have recently come out and denied any negotiations have taken place on either of those players.
