Football Transfers Thread

Well if they aren't then they are stupid. It was only going to be a matter of when rather than if, since Cesc is a product of Barca's academy. I personally expected him to wait for another two seasons when Xavi will be 32 and it would be the perfect time to make the transition.

Yea Arsenal fans should be lucky & thankfull that Fabregas stayed with them so long after years of winning nothing.

Its the perfect time for him to go back really & help the Spanish clubs dominated Europe instead of the English clubs.

Yeah. I felt that some of the comments there were ridiculous because some claimed that he is just taking the easy way out by going to Barcelona because they win trophies like every season. I do think Fabregas has endured enough with Arsenal. Five years without a single trophy is just not good enough and Arsene Wenger always refused to buy world class players. I don't really think there are a lot of money for Wenger to spend despite them claiming the opposite of it.

At his age, I'm sure Fabregas would want to win trophies too and he must have envied Messi after seeing him winning so many major trophies and honors at just the age of 22. Also, perhaps Arsenal should get use to life without Fabregas now rather than later. At least they can do something about it now.

So, David Villa is going to play for Barcelona next season. Ibrahimovic could be on his way out. I hope Fabregas returns to Barcelona. XD

Barca snap up Villa

Yeah, seriously, Arsenal will have to thank their starts that Fabregas is still with them. And about Barcelona acquiring Villa, well, it looks like its going to be a La Liga - Champions League double for them!

Cesc hasn't helped anyone dominate Europe - only Utd and Liverpool have won the CL, and he hasn't played for either team. ;)

Have you guys seen that Chelski's owner says the club owes him over ?720m? :laugh

I don't really understand it myself, but this is the quote, from Yahoo:

Chelsea's accounts for 2008-09 announced that Abramovich's enormous loan to the West London club he owns had been converted into shares.

But a report in the Guardian reveals that since Abramovich made his loan to a holding company, rather than the club itself, his debt is yet to be repaid.

The club's debt to the holding company was converted into shares, but the holding company's debt to Abramovich remains at ?726m.

"The loan is interest free, but it is repayable if Abramovich gives 18 months' notice," writes David Conn in The Guardian.

"The Russian could still demand the money back some day, either if the club is making a profit, or if he were to sell it.

"He has not, in fact, written off the huge loans he has made on his Chelsea adventure."

I don't really care what's going on there, all that matters is a dirty great cloud has moved in over Stamford Bridge - about time.

So Chelsea and Arsenal have done nothing towards helping English football become the dominant force in Europe in the last five years?

Obviously, they've played a part, but neither have actually won the competition - that's my point.

You really dislike Chelsea don't you? Chelsea have released a statement claiming the news reported above is false.

And this coming from a man utd fan, in case you have had your head buried up your arse since the glazers came in your club by the way does not have as they say "a pot to piss in". Man utd are in a terrible financial state so how you seem quick to criticize the CHAMPIONS is a joke, also after listenting to fergie in an interview the other day he reckons you will only be making 1 signing, where's we are likely to make at least 2 big name signings so happy days, Make mine a double please.......

Now that Zigic is in the Premier League, it will be funny when Crouch talks to him in a match considering he has to look down and talk to other players but not to Zigic though. :laugh

Joe Cole to come to Utd?

Sky Sports | Football News | Premier League | Manchester United | Redknapp fears Cole deal done

According to the Sun, Joe Cole wants to sign for us as well. That would be a great signing and not just for Utd - for England as well. Four England players playing regularly together (can't ever see Owen playing for England again) and Joe Cole/Wayne Rooney forging a real understanding with each other.

Also, given that we obviously don't have transfer funds - regardless of what the board are saying, his signing would make a great deal of sense, given that he's a free agent.

@J Psychic: I have an intense dislike for Chelsea, Man City and any other club that is in the position they are simply because of a Sugar Daddy, rather than earning it with success on the pitch. Yes, Utd have bought success, just like every other club, but the difference between Utd and Chelsea is Utd earned the right to 'buy success' by succeeding on the pitch. While Chelsea were knocking on the door before Roman, they weren't going to win the league anytime soon, and as for City - they were nowhere before their takeover. So, I say again: when not if Utd are taken over, the situation will be redressed with interest.
