Mascherano bound for Inter as Liverpool open talks with Christian Poulsen .
What to make of this -good or bad ??

Cole is having a great game for Liverpool right now. Big mistake not to sign him up when he wanted to come to Utd, Sir Alex. You have dropped the ball on this one I'm afraid. :facepalm

Javier Mascherano Has Been A Great Player. So If He Leaves Liverpool, Its Not Good News For Them. I've Never Heard Of Christian Poulsen As I Am Not An Ardent Follower Of Football.

Ya saw yesterday's match.Cole was outstanding and so was Jovanovic .
Really good signings by Hodgson :thumbs

Almost everyone was very impressive. I know it's just Rabotniki but it's very good signs for Liverpool. This is exactly where Rafa failed as manager, his inability to adapt to lesser teams. His counter attacking gameplan was excellent against top teams like Man Utd (4-1 etc) and Real Madrid (4-0) but when they faced lesser, dogged teams who would be defensive they failed to break them open.

On the attack they were very impressive. Cole thrived in his central role but will he be able to produce this week in week out and stay fit? Also he'll need to pull his weight more defensively. Gerrard's role of playing long sideways balls and then making darting runs was excellent offensively, but once again defensively he could easily be caught out in nomans land leaving the slow defence to face a counter attack.

Pacheco and Jovanovic were very good in terms of movement and making runs. Pacheco may have wasted his chances but his movement meant he was there in the first place to get the chances.

Going back to my previous point about the defence. They looked quite shaky again. Near the end they were caught out more than once and Rabotniki probably should've scored one of the chances. With Gerrard being so free offensively and Johnson bombing forward, then a lot of pressure is on Lucas + the defence to deal with swift counter attacks. I don't think Lucas is capable of playing the holding role against better teams. If he plays alongside another player who helps him defensively then yes he could, but with Gerrard being so free there's too much pressure on him when his defensively capabilities aren't that high. They need to replace Mascherano and have someone more capably defensively than Lucas.

^ Thats where Christian Poulsen fits.
Ya defense was really shaky at times and Rabotnicki probably should have scored a goal or two but Then Liverpool should have scored many as well.......maxi pacheco all coming mighty close to scoring

United have completed the signing of Tiago Manuel Dias Correia (better known as "Bebe") from some Portuguese club for a fee around ?7m. Well Bebe becomes the 8th striker(Diouf on loan) at the club.

I dunno why United couldn't spend for ?6.5m and bring Ozil instead of Bebe.

Because Ozil's wages will be a lot higher? A lot of reports actually put him down as more of an attacking midfielder but Vitoria played him in Striker to test him out.

Regardless, Ozil's fee is pretty low at the moment, since he's in the last year of his contract, and is a much more proven player than Bebe. Plus if Ozil leaves in the future, definitely a really good chance at making a great profit on him, and I'm pretty sure he's not going to fail in England.

Atletico got Godin, if that's not been posted already. Good signings to boost up our defence so far.

There's no point paying ?30m for Ozil when the squad is pretty much perfect right now. Ozil is a fantastic player, but if he's not needed then there's no point signing him.
Mascherano has pretty much been out of the door for ages. Surprised he's still here.

Rumours of a move to Barca as well as Liverpool getitng Hleb. ?20m + Hleb wouldnt be bad.
If I was a Liverpool fan, I'd prefer money straight up. Hleb is a top quality player though who I really rate. But Hodgson works the transfer market well. He identifies places that need strengthening and brings in solid, reliable players to do the jobs. However, Hleb would add a lot of flair and creativity to the side and you can still get some players in with ?20m. I guess either way you'd be happy.
