ya do believe that we don't need another striker. we have so many striker's in our team we need a perfect midfielder instead of spending 30m for rvp we can even get modric at this price

In other news, this could take a while to sink in for the Indian football fans. Sunil Chhetri signs for Sporting Portugal.

This guy deserves it. Buckled under poor facilities in India, but he's finally found the place he deserves to be in.

He'll play for the B team but that shouldn't bother him, he'll have a worthy pre-season and shouldn't take long before he makes it to the first team.

Hope this is just the beginning for Indian Football. Or brakes on a bus down the slope.

I don't think we need another striker - he'd cost what: ?30m? Wouldn't that be better spent on a holding midfielder? We still haven't sorted out a ball winner for next season - I'm not sure if that's Jones' best position.
And knowing our luck with injuries, he'll need a bit more than just horse placenta to stay fit.

Think this's almost certainly morphed, but nevertheless...

You honestly think after the trasnfers of Fabregas, Nasri, Adebayor, etc, that the bitter Arsenal fans would like him if he went to City:facepalm? Not something you'd want from the club you supposedly love. The fact is though, the fans have every right to be angry. Had it not been for Wenger and Arsenal standing by him through his injuries when we could've bought better (i.e. someone who didn't take up all the space in the treatment room) he'd be asking for change on the streets of Rotterdam. One good season and he leaves... Also complete rubbish if you think Arsenal can't challenge for titles in the next three to four seasons while he'll still be here. 20 points below without our best midfielder from last season and with a terrible start. It's a young squad, and with some signings it can get much closer. If he goes to City, it is for money. No way around it. May be for titles too, but really Juve and Utd could also offer titles, also Chelsea. He is going there and it will be for money.

Nasri barely fits into the City first team and is easily the weak link. He will be gone very soon. First time I'm hearing anyone say he actually did well, come on. Look at the seasons all the other City attacking players had, even Tevez who was on holiday half the time had a bigger impact. He would've had a permanent spot on the bench if Hazard was signed, that's obvious. Adebayor massively failed and Toure failed his drugs test and deteriorated as a player also. Clichy wasn't that great at Arsenal either and continued it to City.

RVP is one of the few, yes. But guys like Higuain and Fernando Llorente should be much more in demand. I'd be happy if we sold RVP and got one of them, I'm sure City or Utd or whoever would take either of them as well.

Though I suppose he does have Premier League experience and is such a creative forward. Nevertheless, the team revolves around him at Arsenal and he gets limitless opportunities. That fact and how injury prone he is will ensure he fails wherever he goes.

I don't want him at Arsenal another season. Highest bidder gets him I say. I hope to god that isn't Man Utd, Chelsea or City though.

Let's look at Arsenal's squad. Full backs: Sagna, Gibbs, Santos - all three are injury prone with no other cover. Midfielders: Arteta, Song, Rosicky, Ramsey and Wilshere. Wilshere missed the entire last season with injury, to rely on someone so young after a season out with serious injury is ridiculous. The rest of that midfield is not an elite midfield. Forwards: Walcott, Gervinho, Park, Chamakh, Chamberlain. Not exactly a consistent attacking force.

The signings they've made - a player who's continuously underperformed at club level and a forward who had 1 good season in ligue 1 (where have we seen that before?)

Even with van Persie, that squad is going to struggle this season.

Ultimately he's nearly 29 and won't be at his peak much longer. All he's won in his career is a UEFA Cup and an FA Cup. If he truly wants to further his career he knows he has to leave Arsenal now and go to the team with the most ambition - Man City.

Given the form Nasri showed for a half season in his final season at Arsenal, he's disappointed at City because he hasn't shown that consistently enough but he obviously didn't have a bad season - that's just a ridiculous statement. He did well but can just do so much better. Given how much Silva dictates play on the other side, it was always going to be difficult for him to settle but despite being in his shadow, he gave a good return.

Toure did well at the start of his City career, especially in his first season. But Lescott improved massively as a player and overtook Toure in his absence. Clichy has looked better at City than he ever did at Arsenal - especially in the second half of the season. Adebayor is the only player to have "failed".

Indian Football can obviously improve. The young guys here are actually decent. A lot of them have the pace and agility, but most of them tend to go to athletics due to the lack of importance given here for football. I really hope it changes.

Yeah,But Arsenal Already Have 2 Striker's,Striker Whom They Bought,.RVP Going To Another Club.Arsenal May Return The Services Of Bendter.,Maybe Another Striker

Toure being a success at City is complete rubbish. He was amazing at Arsenal, part of the invincibles, and can't even displace Lescott now... Seriously, one season isn't enough to assess the impact of a player, if so, we would be looking back at Chamakh as a successful signing. Nasri likewise, this is a guy who was signed for what, 25 m? On the last year of contract? You'll agree with me that he was an average signing when he's gone in a season or two. The best you can say is he had an incredibly average season, it's a ridiculous statement to say that he has had a good season. Though I could be wrong, as I said just now, one season isn't enough, perhaps he can come good. Ultimately, no big player who left Arsenal has turned out to be a hit at City like they were at Arsenal.

Agreed on Clichy. But he was never an amazing player at Arsenal either.

In the midfield, Arteta has shown to be very good, the club won one match without him. He controls things in the midfield. Definitely a more elite midfielder than someone like Barry. Plus he can contribute important goals and free kicks. Song has been decent too. It's a young midfield barring Arteta, they've all been progressing well and have improved over the last few seasons, they will all improve this season as well. Plus, another signing in midfield is highly likely. Not the biggest worry really. Wilshere won't be relied on. With a signing I don't think we need to rely on him consistently to start.

Full backs are a weak link and we are already without Sagna for the start of the season, looks like Jenkinson will be starting possibly. On the left, I think it's very unlikely both Santos and Gibbs will be injured at the same time again. Gibbs is just waiting for an injury, but Santos, not as injury prone. Should be fine on the left. No team in the BPL has perfect full backs though. Man City have some good full backs, but Chelsea and Utd, not so much.

RVP really rates Walcott. He probably even thinks he is world class, or just below that level. It's a bit harsh to judge Gervinho based on just one season, he was good at the start of the season but lost his confidence after AFCON. Pires had a terrible first season at Arsenal. Don't rule him out yet. Someone like RVP, who plays with all these players who had dodgy first seasons would obviously know better than to deem them ---- immediately.

Ridiculous if you think Podolski is automatically going to be a bad signing or something. He had a good last season at Koln, he has proven himself for Germany and it's been a while since his time at Bayern, he has matured. Everyone's been over this several times. If RVP were to stay, Giroud is just a reserve. No matter what doubts you or anyone has over him, he is a huge upgrade on Park and Chamakh and actually usable unlike them. The squad will not struggle in attack. Perhaps the only place the squad may possibly struggle is at AM and at FB.

The way you assess players you may as well deem almost all players who come to the Premier League as doomed to fail.

The team is a few signings away from a title challenging team. A backup GK (Gordon/Sorensen), a reserve RB (Debuchy?), a reserve CB (Boly), a good LB (no-one really linked), a DM (M'Vila), an AM (Honda/Belhanda/Holtby, many choices), and if you really want to be thorough, a third choice ST (could be one of the boys on loan), and a winger. That's not much, and no other team in the league is perfect in every position anyway. Plus, I'll repeat, it's a young squad, so the team will improve. A title challenge is very possible within the next 3-4 seasons.

It's for money. A title with Arsenal would mean 100 x more as it would be with him as captain. Plus he has the chance of being the club's top scorer, and would be the main man to earn them the title. Also, his family clearly want him to stay.

:facepalm Dream on.

It's the worst Arsenal squad i can ever remember,

You have one world class player in RVP, and tbh i think he is a tad over rated, only one real great season, and it looks like he is gone anyway.

So how many other players at Arsenal would get in the City, Utd, Chelsea team??

Whilshre and Chamberlain have potential but the rest,, no chance.

Your best players leave for a reason, they realise that there is no chance of medals
