Football Transfers Thread

His English is pretty good for an Italian. First Liverpool signing since August 31, 2011 (summer transfer deadline day - Craig Bellamy on a free transfer).

Yes and he barely got a look-in in the first team. Pretty sure Di Santo managed more appearances for the first team around the same time.

the thing with thiago to PSG story is, while he's a huge loss and I was annoyed he's leaving as he's probably among the best 3 or 4 centre backs in the world, without Ibrahamovic and probably losing one or two other players what's the point in having this jewel in defense with a lot of young players that might turn out to be good in a few years?

probably best to cash in big time on him now, all we can do is aim for a CL spot and hope to squeeze out the groups in europe. Thiago is a serie A and CL winning quality defender. those ambitions are on ice.

I am really annoyed with milan for this, as Berlu has pushed through a number of stupid transfers in recent years that have involved huge wages for players not needed. the team has needed gutting for a while and all it got was decoration, now they're losing players to retirement at the same time as being financially neutered. This could have easily ridden out with a more sensible longterm strategy than buying guys like ronaldinho and robinho for the hell of it. (although praise galliani for picking up nocerino for 500,000 euros on the last day of the transfer window last year, probably the best bargain in europe last year)

Incredible that Milan's CB pair of Nesta - Thiago became Mexes - Acerbi in a flash. Looks like Tevez won't sign for AC either, considering he demands a weekly wage of 200k, and Milan sure as hell won't afford anything over 80k. Milan are my second favorite side after 'Pool, and I find their present situation highly frustrating. Sort it out, Galliani!

You dropped Roma?:p

Mexes is a decent guy, but I have never heard of this Acerbi. Who is he?

I still remember that the club was ambitiously linked with Schweinsteiger, Jovetic last season, and this season they're struggling to attract players.

Nope. On equal terms with Milan.

Acerbi is a young, talented defender who had an excellent last season at Chievo.

Nesta, van Bommel, Gattuso, Seedorf, Inzaghi, Thiago and Ibrahimovic all gone in the space of a month. Definitely a hard pill to swallow for any Rooseneri fan. Oh Berlusconi, what have you done?

Never liked Mexes. Reckon he's bloody terrible at times. Him and a new signing who needs to fit in will surely be diabolical.

They're making the most while they can, all that money will be in excess inin a couple of years' transfer window. Not sure about Ibra, he'll be a quality signing but I doubt he'd stick around the club loyally, and you can assume he will be sick in a season or two. Silva's contract extension few weeks ago looked silly if not anything.

Another down to a money rich badass club but a fan favourite club at least.

Hmmm...seems to me like they've been forced out, which isn't hugely surprising because of Milan's financial situation and the fact that we've seen this happen previously with the likes of Kak?.

So Milan lose several club legends and the best defender and best striker in Serie A in such a short space of time. Not looking good for them.

For PSG on the other hand, wow! What a team they're assembling!

Juventus are getting as stronger as Milan are getting weaker by the days. Sources have it that they've all but landed Udinese's Armero - easily last season's best LB in Serie A. Means Mr. Ashton Kutcher aka Paolo De Ceglie will almost certainly be relegated to the bench, which's harsh for a player who had a monstrous second half of the campaign, and would have definitely made Italy's squad for the Euros, had he not been injured. But then, that's Conte's Juve for you.
