Football Transfers Thread

If it does occur, it would still be an improvement for the Serie A.

Haven't been following any of the transfers in the last 2 weeks, miss anything important?

He isn't poor defensively, where the hell did you get that from? He's a very hard working player, always tracking back and putting in a shift. He'd be pressing high up the pitch.

Also lol at cabaye being good defensively. No he isn't. He just runs anywhere and leaves all the defensive work to Tiote. That's why a lot of the time, there's a massive gap between midfield and defence with newcastle and they get caught on the break.

I've seen a lot of Kagawa, and never once has his defensive contribution impressed me enough to justify he could play a deeper role in your system. At best he is as you say a more attacking player who does track back, don't think he'd be good enough to play in a role where his defensive contribution has to be major. He is not famous for his defensive contribution, he is famous for his abilities higher up the pitch. I just think it's a complete waste using him in a deeper role unless there is some injury crisis and it's absolutely necessary. Plus he has no experience of ever playing in a deeper role.

Oh, and for the millionth time, stop taking what I say and twisting it around to make you look like some superior guy. Read it again, I never once said Cabaye is especially good defensively. I said he is OK defensively, good enough for United and better than Kagawa, has a better eye for a tackle than Kagawa does and would be a better fit for the deeper playmaker role.

As I've said before, I'm expecting a more defensive mid to be first priority, you have money for both. Tiote isn't that great, having a top class guy to do the dirty work next to him like Javi Martinez or Bender would make him absolutely perfect as the playmaker.

So looks like RVP has decided on Juve. Yet another of the Premiership's technically gifted players is off :(

Not yet. I believe that was just some Mirror article or something that stated he has agreed to a Juve move. Not reliable. I believe that same article even stated he'll get 190 K per week after tax, so you can tell it's rubbish:lol.

Serie A is a mess anyway. He should stay away, all these match-fixing scandals at Juve and the decrease in quality over the years is a real worry. Plus his new manager if he moves is banned. Some evidence has met with City officials in the past, still think he's going there.

Expecting Ligue 1 to overtake Serie A within the next ten years.

Cazorla is coming to Arsenal for peanuts is about the biggest news of the transfer window:D. One of the top attacking midfield players if he comes, similar level to David Silva. Sahin is also close to Arsenal on loan.

Adebayor's move to Spurs seems to have hit a stumbling block and Modric is going to be sold to Real for ~45 m euros.

Chelsea have signed Oscar from Internacional and are still looking to add an RB and possibly another midfielder (they bid for Wilian after bidding for Oscar).

Liverpool are closing in on Joe Allen from Swansea for 13-15 m pounds. Andy Carroll almost moved to West Ham for ~17 m pounds, but he rejected the deal after the fee was agreed. Still looks very much out.

Everyone is still after RVP. Man City and Man Utd have added no-one new, but both are most likely still looking for a striker and a midfielder, as well as unloading deadweights.

Everton have sold Tim Cahill to New York Red Bulls and have finally picked up Pienaar for ~4 m pounds.

A few other teams like Aston Villa and West Ham have also bought some players.

Lol, that guy is an idiot. He most likely isn't going to Juve.

Reckon he might stay tbh, no-one really wants him any more. He'll definitely play for us against Sunderland, whether he is staying or trying to put himself in the shop window. Especially with the Adebayor deal hitting the rocks, and the lack of suitors for Dzeko, thinking this definitely won't be done soon. I don't think Milan are genuinely interested in Dzeko.

Either way, he is going for money 100% now unless he resigns his contract with Arsenal. If we sign guys like Sahin and Cazorla.

I meant his defensive contributions from an attacking position, bit of a mix up there. He won't play a deeper role unless there's a major injury crisis.

In midfield Utd have Carrick, Scholes, Cleverley and Lingard as decent options. Lingard looks really impressive in pre-season. Obviously you can't take too much from that but Fergie seems to have a lot of faith in him as well to step up based on interviews. I think Utd could get by with that midfield tbh, especially if they have a super attacking quartet ahead of them.

I think they probably are but once you've been hoovered up into the chelsea/man city/real madrid megabucks teams it's difficult to get out. no one except the other big clubs are able to pay a similar wage.

Milan have withdrawn from the big spenders in an attempt to save money and clear their debt, given his wages, selling ibrahamovic and signing dzecko wouldn't really make sense.

Agree with you, they're highly struggling to get even Kaka because of his wages. Well, I know he gets a big wage, but their high reluctance to go for him openly shows that they maybe want some financial security.

None of those are the quality options that you need if you're challenging for the title. You need a midfielder, if you do wish to go with that, it'll be that you're taking a major risk. You can live by, but just remember that a long-term injury to any one of those would severely wreck you.

Lingard, I've never heard of him. Who's he?

Jesse Lingard, 19-year-old midfielder. Probably will go out on loan.

Quite a bit of progress eh, thanks for catching me up with all. :)

Indeed Wenger has done his best to make the Gunners stronger and if he gets to two add to Podolski and Giroud - Arsenal's signing look more impressive than United at this stage.

I'm not convinced at all by that midfield. The ball winner is still needed, and a better deep playmaker is also needed. Most other teams in the top 7 have a better midfield than that. Scholes should play no more than one game in a few, he is old news and it tells you a lot about your team if this guy who should be a pundit by now should be relied on so heavily. Cleverley seems to be a crock and I've never rated Carrick. Though I do reckon in your system, the two central midfielders aren't that important so you can get by with that pretty poor midfield.

I don't know much about Powell as I have no interest in League Two, but is he going on loan or possibly can he play as a back-up in central midfield?

If he's looking good on pre-season, good way to get him in the shop window for a good loan to a PL club. Shouldn't be playing for Man Utd. With a good season on loan, no reason why he can't have a more regular role in the future.

I'm not convinced by your transfer dealings just yet. Fergie was so ruthless when it came to the ST role, benching the PL's top scorer. Doesn't make sense to me that he'll let such average quality stay in your midfield for so long. Also the RB and LB is needed.

IMO your squad has never been this much weaker than City's ever before. Uphill task to win the PL at this stage I reckon.

He's always done his best. It just happens that this time his best was good enough. We have tried to buy so many top players in the past, but have always fallen short. We have narrowly missed out on Mata, Cazorla, Reina, Xabi Alonso, Alvarez, etc in the past. Lucky that this time it hasn't happened.

Far more impressive. United just seem to be hell bent on adding unnecessary signings. Lucas Moura would've been the most unnecessary signing in a long time, plus I don't think Kagawa was fully needed either. Still no real talk of a ball-winner and a full back. Poor transfer window so far for them I reckon.

If we add Sahin and Cazorla as well as keep RVP, we are a lot stronger than Man Utd this season, both in first XI and squad options. Plus there is talk of us bringing in another defender and 17-year old wonderkid M'Baye Niang, and also unloading deadweights. One of the best transfer window EVER under Wenger if all that happens. And it looks very likely most of it will happen.

Way I see it, we have a very good chance of winning a trophy in the next two seasons.

Some stuff about RVP as well. Seems true and promising.

To be honest, if they have any interest in a full-time RB, they'd go for Debuchy instead of letting Newcastle get him with their derisory bids. Best RB at Euro 2012 and can grow a lot at a bigger club than Lille.

Not sure who would take Anderson, he must be on decent wages and he is a crock. Plus he's not talented. Berbatov, not sure about him.

I'm betting they'll spend it on another useless AM.
