:facepalm:facepalm:facepalm:facepalm

And in the meantime, we're chasing a striker (RvP) and a midfield playmaker (Moura), neither of which we need! Cleverley's an attacking mid, and so is Kagawa! Cabaye would be perfect!! Maybe Sir Alex is going to give that job to Jonesy.

Doesn't look like Baines is going to happen - now there are rumours about Ashley Cole to Utd? Can't ever see that myself, but I would certainly welcome it.

In the meantime, De Gea still appears to be making too many mistakes coming for crosses.

Cabaye is not good enough. I like him and he's done well for Newcastle but he's not the calibre of player Utd should be going for.

I do think Utd could do with another forward as Berbatov is going and contract talks with Welbeck have stalled and the more I think about it, the more I welcome the idea of signing RVP. Would be a real statement that Utd can still compete with City on these kind of signings and someone of van Persie's quality would obviously improve the team.

Then again, I fear that van Persie could be another Veron or Berbatov - an outstanding talent but not the right kind of player that was needed.

Would have to disagree that Cabaye is not good enough for United. With Modric out of reach , i don't see any another mid-fielder who could act as a long-term replacement for Scholes in Europe - who could be available.

He certainly would have been a more logical buy IMO than Khawaja, who i still don't understand why he was bought and still suspect he was bought just to boost United Asian fan base.

The next best option was Schwiensteiger (spell check), but i dont think Bayern would sell or whether he would want to go to United.

Also united need a proper right-back and its pretty amusing that Debuechy is prefering Newcastle over United. Surely United should be trying to high-jack that move.

So with that in mind, to get him would be a worse overpay than the Lucas Moura deal. I'm thinking maybe 25-30 m+, as well as huge wages above 100 K to convince him to jump ship. He's only been there a year and Newcastle will bleed you dry for him like they should.

Not worth it, go get Javi Martinez if you want to overpay for a player. He is younger than Cabaye too and would be more willing to a move.

Ye Castle would call a heavy price for Cabaye if United wanted him. Only way he would be cheaper if is Cabaye himself wanted to force a move to United.

BBC News - Manchester United share sale causes controversy among fans and investors

United's and the Glazer's financial dealings looks more and more crazy when i see these articles.

Kagawa's a very accomplished player, who gives Utd an extra dimension going forward, given how over-reliant we've been on service from wide areas in the past few seasons.

It's a move back to the more free-flowing, fluid football we played during 2006/07 and saw signs of early last season before Cleverley's injury.

I'm spitting mad. We could slash the debt in half at a stroke, but no - the greedy gormless bastards have to pocket half of it! Look at Roman: 'Y'know that money from the CL win? Well, I want you to blow all of it on players'.

We can't though, can we? :facepalm. And In my opinion, if we were taken over we'd simply be put back where we were before the damned Glazers! If there's a player City really want - they'll get him, unless he really wants to play for Utd.

Well this is the issue. There's no one else, and Fergie has already said that. He's only going to sign someone of high calibre to replace Scholes, and won't make do with someone like Cabaye.

Kagawa was a fantastic buy and makes perfect sense. As Auwais said, Utd are going back to a more free-flowing side and Kagawa is a perfect fit for that system.

But Cabaye also would aid United in being a more free-flowing side too. Plus give he is more defensively that Cabaye - you would be getting two players in one.

Kawawa the little i've seen of him can only play in an advanced mid-field, you can't play him in a deeper mid-field role for eg, which is why i'm a bit skeptical about his signing and how quick United went for him.

You compound that with Fletcher being out and joke back-up in Anderson and i'm not sold on United mid-field strength ATM and how exactly this team is going to balance out for the new season.

Kagawa is an attacking midfielder, not sure why anyone would suggest playing him in a deeper role. Also in an interview he said he expected Fergie to play him behind the striker. That is his best role. He is poor defensively as well, your system needs decent defensive capabilities on central midfielders IMO, hence Cabaye is a good choice.

If he is meant to be a deeper central midfielder at United, expect him to fail miserably. Why would you put a guy known for goal scoring, dribbling skills, pace and key passes in a deeper central midfield role...

Cabaye is good enough. Huge upgrade on Carrick and and better than Kagawa by far in a deeper role. Forget about Scholes, he is ancient. A top club shouldn't rely on a guy who should be retired to make their midfield tick. You have 30 million+, buy Javi Martinez and be done with it. He is perfect. A Bender would be fine too, with Lars the better one. You have insane money to throw around, one of those three would be amazing buys. If you want someone with better passing ability, go for M'Vila. He'll cost peanuts as well.

It's for this reason that I would always take a committed shareholder like Delia over a rich Arab who will buy their way to the top and leave us in debt when they get bored. The mismanagement of a great club like Man Utd is sickening.

Quite so - also, Delia actually gives a damn. Do you reckon Sheik Whassisname is City blue through and through? :rolleyes

Sickening or hilarious?

I'd still rather be in our position than yours, debt and all. ;) :p

Looking at how Malaga has collapsed, it would be hilarious if the same happened to City. Every chance that could happen if City win the CL I reckon.

Btw, you think your situation is bad at Man Utd? Kroenke constantly pockets a huge amount of Arsenal's money. At least 10% of everything I believe.

He isn't poor defensively, where the hell did you get that from? He's a very hard working player, always tracking back and putting in a shift. He'd be pressing high up the pitch.

Also lol at cabaye being good defensively. No he isn't. He just runs anywhere and leaves all the defensive work to Tiote. That's why a lot of the time, there's a massive gap between midfield and defence with newcastle and they get caught on the break.

So looks like RVP has decided on Juve. Yet another of the Premiership's technically gifted players is off :(
