Football Transfers Thread

It seems Fergie is obviously working towards creating something at Utd. At the beginning of last season Utd played incredible fast paced, short passing football with a group of young players. Obviously that didn't continue but I think that's what Fergie is aiming for this season, and that's why he's after the players he is.

Obviously a lot of impotus would be on Carrick and Scholes again, arguably too much but I trust what Fergie is doing. That said, given how Toure destroyed Utd's midfield last season, I find it odd we're not after a central midfielder with some bite.

The excellent Miguel Delaney has said on twitter (@migueldelaney) that Utd have three real targets - RVP, Lucas and Baines. Utd are confident of signing RVP but there is the issue of wages, Lucas is a negotiating tactic from the agent and Baines is at a deadlock as Utd aren't meeting Everton's valuation.

Glad I'm not the only one. ;) As for Sir Alex looking to build another team, well it wouldn't be the first time, eh? ;)

And you've lost two youth midfielders, Pogba and Morrison so the pressure for a midfield signing is even higher. Yet, no rumours of a possible central midfield signing is completely surprising.

Ramirez set for Prem move | Football News | Sky Sports

The 21-year-old Uruguay international is believed to be a target for Liverpool and Tottenham and is currently in England as part of his country's Olympic squad.

Bentacur said:
Bologna are asking for him - nearly ?25million (?19.5m).

Bentacur said:
I think it's always been more likely that Gaston says goodbye to Italy. So much so that now I'm in London to talk with a Premier League club.

Think Ramirez's screamer now against UAE might have just put another 5m on his fee! Pablo Bentacur is his agent btw.

I think he's said that he's aiming to play a lot faster, perhaps they're doing away with the creative central midfielder idea and aiming to play with almost 2 wingers on each side with holding midfielder and central striker who can fall back a bit (which rooney would be able to do ideally)

and why the hell not? recently teams have been dispensing with traditional centre forwards to some effect, notably spain in the euros. have carrick/jones sitting behind 4 attacking wingers that can alternate positions and rooney defending from the front as needed. still would leave a team with 6 players mucking in with defensive duties and 4 primarily based on attacking (plus the full backs would no longer be required to advance as high up the pitch and if smalling is still the choice to play RB he's not really someone that drives forward) so it's not like it would be overly imbalanced.

I think bayern and real madrid have shown recently that having wingers that are interchangeable is vital to success and players are becoming more rounded in the roles they can perform, and it's rare at this level you get wingers that are only in the beat man/cross ball mould with speed and nothing else. kagawa and moura would fit into that a lot better than the set up they have now and it's also notable both of them were reasonably prolific last season, perhaps man u looking for goal scoring threats if they are to use them in such advanced roles.

this of, course, is pure guess work based on a single quote and some speculative transfer targets.

Hopefully it's with an option to buy, would love Sahin here. Would mean no M'Vila though, when IMO he would fit much better.

However, it could as easily be a replacement for Modric at Spurs.

Regardless, I'm loving the prospect of Sahin and Cazorla coming in one window... PLUS Giroud and Podolski... How is this not ambition.. van Persie wants a big pay day, he disagrees over the way the club's wage structure should move forward:p.

Pretty sure I heard sites mentioning he'd signed for the emerging Bundesliga outfit in Monchengladbach....

Hearing he's signed on a free transfer as well, according to skysport's transfer clockwatch. Arguably one of the best buys of the summer in that case.

Edit: Soccernet does suggest the fee will be decided by a compensation tribunal though...

Yeah he's free. He was out of contract I believe, or there was a clause in his contract that allowed him to leave if Blackburn got relegated.

Good signing, he could start a lot for QPR.

Wenger is very good at keeping tight lipped about transfers.

You do know the shortly before we signed Podolski he was denying he even knew the guy? Also the an hour before Arshavin signed for Zenit last season, he said Arshavin is going nowhere.

I'm more intrigued by the fact that he said "In the future you never know." Obviously, tomorrow the signings of Cazorla and Sahin will be announced:D.

Knowing that, I posted typical Arsenal.

Rangers boost squad with Ian Black and Andy Little - ESPN Soccernet

They were never truly in for him, neither are Man Utd. He's going to City. Fullstop.

Yeah, Juventus definitely know they have a more realistic target in Jovetic.

City should get him ATM, Mancini is cringing for signings!
