Football Transfers Thread

That is indeed why I was watching Man City vs QPR and not Arsenal vs West Brom. I was screaming like we'd won a trophy, seriously:p.

Unfortunately, Man Utd won't fall when they're spending this sort of money, though, unfortunately.

I find it a good idea usually to go on RedCafe if I want a good laugh in the transfer season.

Yeah he hasn't been as impressive lately, but considering your transfer budget and the likeliness you will bring in another replacement (Pienaar is needed with or without him), surely he would've been good enough as a squad player at least?

yeh, but he's one of our highest paid players. so we can't really afford to give a bench player 50k a week.

I think the fact we can't afford ~4million for pienaar, despite finishing in the top half of the richest league in the world pretty much every year without selling is quite frankly appalling. considering we have only spent about 60% of what we have brought in via sales in the last 18 months or so too shows just how much trouble we are in financially.

----------

Just ?1 million generated through the sale Timmy freaking Cahill is quite awful from Everton's point of view though. Surely he can't be that bad ATM?

he doesn't really offer us much. his goals dried up quite a while ago, and even in his prime he would have been average without them. perhaps would could/should have got more, but i'm not that surprised. he was basically a passenger whenever he played last season.

People saying Everton should have gotten more. Multiply 50,000 by 52 and figure out how much Everton just freed up :rolleyes

I hate to say it, but I reckon if Moyes leaves you guys are completely screwed. Like maybe even relegation screwed. You guys make Swansea look like Man City.

we're screwed anyway. you can only really float for so long before something goes against you. look at our first half of the season, yeh we turned it around when a few players came in, but we're only one long term injury away from a bottom half finish/relegation battle

Well, he's been here this long. I remember talk of Everton being the most likely team to break into the big four maybe five or six years ago. I doubt things will go wrong all of a sudden.

Moyes is a special manager, and he himself says it, it is only your start of the season that is screwing you up. What if your run of good form can begin earlier, as opposed to the run of form not happening at all as you say. Some great January transfers provided the spark for your run of form last season. This season though, you'll have Pienaar and Jelavic the whole time. No need to be so pessimistic just yet, let's not forget you just finished ahead of Liverpool.

I don't think it's pessimism.

we've built a good side, but we have a small squad. I'm not sure how effective naismith would be out wide but he seems like a decent signing. but i think we still need two wingers (pienaar and A.nother) as osman and coleman aren't good enough out wide as anything other than cover if we want to get into the europa league through the league.

If we were to lose fellaini/baines or jelavic or a large part of the season we would struggle to win many matches.

I think out par for next season would be 8th, with a bit of luck we could snatch 5th/6th maybe (like newcaslte) but likewise if we are unlucky we could drop to 12th or so. it's realism more than pessimism

This! How much for a striker who they just dropped when he was top scorer in the league? Man U fans are so far up their own self-important asses it's ridiculous. They genuinely seem to act like they have some god given right to win the title/trophies. All empires eventually fall. Worth remembering :p

Dream on. We dealt with Chelsea's initial surge, we'll deal with our noisy neighbours as well. :p :p

It's a good 30 m saved.

Honestly, I don't see how in the world Man Utd fans can criticise Man City for ruining the game with money when Man Utd spend just as much on unneeded players like Moura.

No one is deluded enough to think Utd need Moura other than the fans themselves who want to justify it as meaningful. And they STILL label all of City's purchases as not meaningful.

Remember what I've been saying all along? The money would be better spent on a holding midfielder. My point is - if the club really want Moura, then why the hell are they letting a measly ?4m (in football money :D ) getting in the way?

Besides which, we haven't actually bought him yet, have we and it doesn't look like we will. The thing is, all we're being linked with is attackers, when we really need a....

I've said it enough times. ;)

Oh and one other thing: who is now massively over-inflating not only transfer fees, but also wages? It sure as hell isn't us...

Nope, completely official now.

Interesting, I see him as the best Brazilian wonderkid available after Neymar of course. I can see him being an outstanding player for Chelsea in the future, but still question marks. He has only really been brilliant for half a season, more specifically for the Brazilian Olympic side, and he is ridiculously overpriced.

I reckon he deserves nothing more than a squad role this season, but with time I can see him maturing into possibly one of the best playmakers in the world.

Meanwhile, while all our rivals continue to target overpriced unproven players, we are advancing well in signing a world class, versatile attacking force in Cazorla.

Things look 50/50 now, maybe slightly in our favour, but what a signing he will be if it happens. Just over our transfer record at only around 16 m for a player that will infinitely improve us, and could play at any team in the world.

Funny thing, he can even play at DM:lol.

If it's done, it'll be done by the end of the month too. Looking forward to the possibility.

Moura deal's stil floating around - I just hope we're not signing mega bucks players just for the sake of it - I mean, he is only 19. Looking forwards to getting a good look at Kagawa.

If you sign him you should send him out on loan IMO.

Won't get the minutes he wants/deserves at United just yet. Needs to get used to the continent without the pressure he will face at United.

It seems Fergie is obviously working towards creating something at Utd. At the beginning of last season Utd played incredible fast paced, short passing football with a group of young players. Obviously that didn't continue but I think that's what Fergie is aiming for this season, and that's why he's after the players he is.

Obviously a lot of impotus would be on Carrick and Scholes again, arguably too much but I trust what Fergie is doing. That said, given how Toure destroyed Utd's midfield last season, I find it odd we're not after a central midfielder with some bite.

The excellent Miguel Delaney has said on twitter (@migueldelaney) that Utd have three real targets - RVP, Lucas and Baines. Utd are confident of signing RVP but there is the issue of wages, Lucas is a negotiating tactic from the agent and Baines is at a deadlock as Utd aren't meeting Everton's valuation.

there were really strong rumours that we were willing to sell baines, but then he told the management that he wasn't willing to leave so we've told united that we aren't listening to bids.

but then even if that is true all it takes is a silly bid and we accept it and force him out.
