Football Transfers Thread

Selling him now when the team's already short in central midfield wouldn't be the brightest idea.

I don't think he'll ever be more than a squad player, not until he sorts out his fitness issues, most of which are probably caused by his own lax attitude to keeping himself trim.

Sell him and use the money to buy another proper mid-fielder. Anderson is a joke really.

I don't see his worth even if he is 100% fit.

that article stats "according to the sun"

i stopped reading there. "according to the graffiti on a toilet wall i saw" would have as much credibility with me

I've seen it reported in a few other places too, just that article happened to be the latest one I saw of it.

As I said, it's just a rumour, the media seems to be making new stories about RVP every day. I tend to believe some of them, as his message to fans on his website is absolute bull when he says money is not a motivation and that he stills loves the club. He may have loved the club, but he doesn't any more. When you love a club, you don't minimise the transfer they'll receive by making a public plea when trying to engineer a move. You also don't publicly denounce the way the club should move forward.

One of the few good articles I've read on goal.com puts an interesting spin on this saga.

Completely agree. If he was a Chelsea, City or Liverpool player people would be making jokes about him like they do with guys like Downing and Torres, he is that bad.

Seems to get special treatment for some reason, maybe because of the potential he once had. He is a terrible player and will be a good squad player at best, he is not United quality by any stretch.

Ah yes, The Sun, that fountain of wisdom and accurate stories. :lol RvP stating that he'd rather play for Utd than City holds much more water for me - The Times and The Sun are worlds apart.

He won't move to United if he has any respect for Arsenal. Here's why.

He has been an Arsenal fan since he was very little. When he was growing up, there were two teams you had to hate as an Arsenal fan, Spurs and United. Chelsea and City is more of a new thing. When he's thought of United has scum for so long, I don't see him suddenly warming up to them for whatever reason.

Wenger can't allow it as well. It'll be the lowest he's ever sunk, selling our best player to United of all clubs. Will cause a huge outcry from the fans. RVP as well would be dead to me, I'd rather see Rooney's ugly face than RVP's.

Sounds like good news but it's not over until It's over. Same thing with Nasri and Sneijder last year.

Hope I'm wrong tho.

I don't see why you'd be excited by the signing of Lucas Moura. I don't see him getting much playing time unless Nani leaves, which is very bad for you, as he isn't as good as Nani just yet. He is costing a fortune and is overpriced as hell, when you could slap on another 5-10 m and get Javi Martinez who is the top talent you need. And also, he wants to play through the middle, most likely at number 10, where there will also be no space for him, as Kagawa and Rooney are far better than him as well.

Pointless signing.

Wenger grinned and said "I don't know who that is!" when asked about Santi Cazorla.

Welcome to Arsenal son.

United's singings over the years, or after Berbatov have been mostly, as you'd like it, Unproven material. If they have an intent to spend $35m on someone "unproven" then it's a bad excuse to start with.

He's of a new breed of players and is definitely a near future prospect, I agree here and is bound to be moulded into sort of an attacking mid with freedom to take on the wings but i'm not sure how yet, where he would play is not an immediate worry. He'll play a part this season if signed, and i don't think they'd really want to sideline him as a bit part player after paying so much.

Lucas was on Inter's cards nearly after his debut, Juventus were back to retaining him and it almost happened last year. Lad has volumes to speak about Potential and stuff involving his resale value but you can sense there's a flex in United's playing style for the coming years and the flurry of wingers is quite normal to United. Recent transfers have been largely replacements in a way but it is also to make way for a new flowing system at United intended for the future.

Inter or Juve should sign him if they've been linked, his dribbling style would fit a lot better in Serie A. All the South Americans should go there or to Portugal as their first European club, always works well to get them accustomed to Europe. He has so much time and space in Brazil which he won't get in England.

If he comes to the PL he will be a winger, I very much doubt he'll have space to dribble and use his trickery in the centre, at least while he gets accustomed to the league. I suppose he can rotate with the other wingers, I reckon he can be better than Ashley Young even in his first season.

I don't think a player has gone directly from South America to Manchester before as well, so he is going to be bloody pissed with the weather:p.

I've seen him play several times though, I wasn't fully impressed. Overdribbles a lot, reminds me of Na$ri in that way, though he does have a decent pass and he can hit some rockets. Not convinced by his crossing though, essential for a United winger.

Above all though, he will bring South American flair to Manchester, he can attract more crowds than Hazard with his play style. I suppose that's exciting.

I'm with you on this one, but you never know, 'cause I found Ashley Cole tweeting stuff yesterday that involved abusing Arsenal, inspite of his wikipedia profile stating he grew up as an Arsenal fan:

the last bloke united bought that had a tendency to run about over dribbling worked out alright.

Ye he is Kleberson part 2 really, United should get rid of him and go for established long-term replacement for Scholes and cover for Fletcher given his uncertain future.

Players like Cabaye and Martinez (maybe M'Villa) hould be targeted, instead of studying a unknown Brazilian talent in Lucas.

Also Debuecy (spell check) should be the new right-back. Very puzzled by rumours i read that Newcastle are favourite to sign him.

Lol QPR are having a mini revolution going on. 6 signings already now and Defoe and Bellamy in their grip? That would make one redemption squad and How their time is right, all the players they've signed would've probably been untouchable a few years ago.
