Football Transfers Thread

lol, I don't even remember Liverpool being linked with him. Haven't heard of him. Maybe Auwais can clue us in?
I vaguely remember him being hyped up a couple of years back.

He has excellent close control and is very quick and agile. A real livewire but his end product sometimes disappoints and he's had disciplinary problems in the past.

He should fit in perfectly with Rodger's philosophy. He's unproven at the top level but at ?3m is definitely worth a punt.

Heerenveen finished 5th last year in the Eredivisie above Twente. I guess this guy may have played a part here............

Not unless Berbatov is sold, I don't think. It would be highly disrespectful. He already knows he's being pushed out of the picture. This would just confirm it and infuriate him further. Anyways, who cares what number he wears? Rooney + RVP sounds pretty damn threatening. I hope he gets injured, and knowing his luck, he probably will!

I don't really care what number he wears. ;)

Nice wishing injury on a fellow human being who's done nothing to you, I must say. :noway

The signing is now complete - there was always a little thought in the back of my mind that something would go wrong - he'll be in the team I'd imagine on Monday.

Oh god. I felt if he went to United some swap deal would be brought up. Edin Dzeko would've been OK, but Hernandez is a huge no no. You can't replace such a creative and well-rounded forward like RVP with Hernandez who is so limited.

If I had the choice I would much rather Berbatov over Hernandez, but I don't want Berbatov either. Players like Berbatov and Carrick are tainted having played for Man Utd and Spurs:p.

Never heard of him either...

At least RvP didn't go to City - surely Arsenal fans must be fed up of being City's feeder club? Kolo Toure, Nasri, Clichy and I'm sure I've missed one somewhere.

Hope we give RvP the No.7 shirt. :) Then again, if Berba goes, the No.9 will be free. Come to that, who the heck is wearing No.7 right now, I can't remember. I know that Owen had it before he left.

Apparently, we're also closing in on a young striker from Chile or somewhere - who seems to have a great attitude because he has already said that his aim is to play for Man Utd; if that means being farmed out on loan somewhere, then so be it.

Angelo Henriquez in dreamland after sealing Manchester United switch | Mail Online

There we go - Angelo Henriquez. That's got to be our shopping done now, surely?

Let me put it this way, I would rather RVP had went to Spurs than Man Utd. All the guys except Clichy who have went to City haven't done as well as they could have at Arsenal. RVP would've been no different, still not at all convinced RVP will pay off for Utd anyway.

Felt like chucking the remote at the TV when I saw the picture of him sitting with red nose. Anyway, he's dead to me now, time to move on.

Doubt Henriquez will get a work permit, reckon he'll go to La Liga on loan.

:lol

Being offered Liverpool and Spurs, but instead going to a team where he isn't even guaranteed top flight football beyond this season.

I wish I felt sorry for Spurs that even Southampton are beating them to signings now.

Alex Song has officially been told to get the hell out of Arsenal according to the guy who knows everything at Arsenal. Nice to see it done early, though a bit worried about who will play tomorrow. Perhaps Coquelin-Arteta at the base of midfield or Ramsey-Arteta?

Need M'Vila and Sahin for sure. Nobody is needed more than our #10 though.

"It is an offer that you cannot refuse. They will give me so much money (?2 million net per year and more than ?1 million signing-on fee)."

- Gaston Ramirez on the offer from Southampton.

Yeah I thought he was motivated by money when he rejected Spurs. Fair play to the guy, but Liverpool and Spurs are idiots for not offering more than a newly promoted club.

Remains to be seen though if he'll regret the decision. Perhaps at Liverpool or Spurs he'd have grown enough to earn a lot more than that. What good is he in the Championship.

HUGE coup for Southampton.

How are they idiots? He was just worth more to Southampton than he was to Liverpool or Spurs.

Championship? Southampton are in the Premier League...

...for one season in any case. They'll be bottom after this weekend, with a -5 goal difference. ;)

Doesn't look to me like Spurs or Liverpool can get anyone that much better, that's why they are idiots, especially when they overpay for other players. Anyway, I can still be proven wrong - though to me Ramirez seems more proven in a better league than Assaidi. Spurs are having troubly signing anyone at all too, so the could've used Ramirez.

And do you seriously think Southampton are GUARANTEED to stay in the PL this season? What's he going to do if it goes wrong?

I wouldn't be ecstatic about Assaidi just yet. I still remember how well Afonso Alves did for Heerenveen then how he did for Middlesbrough. Can't be sure the same won't happen again. Potential though to be a great signing.

Southampton have had a pretty good summer transfer window tbh. Don't see them getting relegated this season.

Football : English Premier League transfers in 2012/2013 season

Yet to update Gaston Ramirez and RvP's transfers - but with that, Southampton are the fifth highest spenders this summer in English football, leapfrogging Tottenham.

In millions euros:

1. Chelsea 80
2. Man Utd 53
3. Arsenal 49
4. Liverpool 37
5. Southampton 27
