Football Transfers Thread

You may be right, but I'm still not convinced they are dead set to stay in the league. Out of the new boys, the favourite to stay surely has to be West Ham.

Doesn't look to me like Spurs or Liverpool can get anyone that much better, that's why they are idiots, especially when they overpay for other players. Anyway, I can still be proven wrong - though to me Ramirez seems more proven in a better league than Assaidi. Spurs are having troubly signing anyone at all too, so the could've used Ramirez.

And do you seriously think Southampton are GUARANTEED to stay in the PL this season? What's he going to do if it goes wrong?

I wouldn't be ecstatic about Assaidi just yet. I still remember how well Afonso Alves did for Heerenveen then how he did for Middlesbrough. Can't be sure the same won't happen again. Potential though to be a great signing.

Who said I'm ecstatic? Rodgers has already said he isn't going to be in the first XI. He has been brought in for the future. If he fails, well, he didn't cost much anyways.

Liverpool simply don't have that much money this summer. Assaidi cost something like 2.4mil while Ramirez would have cost more than 15mil. When you don't have money, it's a simple decision to make. Any money they have is minimal and raised by the sale of players (Kuyt, Maxi, Bellamy so far). They had the money to buy Allen and Borini but any more is pushing it at this stage.

I didn't quote you, I was not specifically referring to you. But Assaidi isn't probably as good a signing as Ramirez could have been.

Anyway, thought Fenway were giving Rodgers a decent transfer kitty to buy guys like Ramirez?

What a beautiful image. :D

So, RvP is to wear the famous No 20! I might be wrong, but I'm sure that was 'retired' after Solskjaer last wore it during the 1999 Treble year. :)

Up there with Sol Campbell.

They should play Judas by Lady Gaga when he comes to the Emirates.

Alex Song has officially been told to get the hell out of Arsenal according to the guy who knows everything at Arsenal. Nice to see it done early, though a bit worried about who will play tomorrow. Perhaps Coquelin-Arteta at the base of midfield or Ramsey-Arteta?

Need M'Vila and Sahin for sure. Nobody is needed more than our #10 though.

Arsenal have passed up the chance to sign M'Vila countless times - all the big teams have. Spurs were considering signing him as a cheap option if Moutinho doesn't go through. A big drop from his original ?30m valuation lol.

So excited for the new season now. Can see Utd going back to the circa 2008 style football of interchanging of the front attackers. With so much variety up front there are so many options to go with - no excuse for not scoring now.

At least he's honest.

Yeah, unlike RVP and a heck lot of them out there.

He does look nice, although the kit ain't great for him.

10 facts about Oussama Assaidi - Liverpool FC

Liverpool's profile on Assaidi with 10 facts and this one below is just :lol

9. His FIFA 2012 profile gives him 91/100 for acceleration, 90/100 for agility and 86/100 dribbling. The area he needs to work on - if the football console is to be believed - is slide tackling, at which they rate him 24/100.

Who on earth includes stats from the FIFA game in a player's profile anyway?!

Speaking of Van Persie...

In his first press conference as a United player, he said: "From my side and Arsenal's side, there is no hard feelings. No one is angry with me and I'm not angry with them".

No one is angry? Sure...

And it was quite fun to see Piers Morgan going all bonkers on Twitter when it was announced that RVP will join United. :lol

Then this...

Explaining his decision, Van Persie said: "In these situations, when you have to make a hard decision in your life, I always listen to that little boy inside me. What does he want? That boy was screaming for Manchester United.

Really?! REALLY?!!

Wenger will be laughing all the way to the bank IF Van Persie go back to his injury prone days again.

That's not how Wenger does business. He doesn't go in and get a player as soon as he's interested. Very likely he'll go back in for him with Song gone. Spurs can't get him as he wants CL, also ruling out Inter. Bayern also almost have Javi Martinez.

Rennes are idiots, they'll be lucky to get 13 m pounds now.

Not the best player we could go for, but would be a decent signing. I wish we'd go for Lars Bender as I'm sure he isn't 100% happy and his club may want the money.

The Sahin transfer saga is becoming a little bit annoying. According to the latest news, he wants to move to Arsenal and they see him as a replacement of sort for Song.

Not really, the RVP and Modric sagas were far worse.

Sahin wants Arsenal, but Mourinho wants to send him to Liverpool as he likes Rodgers and hates Wenger.

Liverpool almost successfully hijacked the Arsenal deal, but now it looks like Arsenal are hijacking the hijack.

Not buying anything for the time being, but if he joins Arsenal, I'll officially stop paying heed to any transfer news from any website (barring skysports) whatsoever. Cos all our "reliable" inside sources confirmed this was 100% happening for us (Sahin to LFC).
