Wasn't Sahin injured or something?

----------------------

I don't get the pessimism, don, does that ward off if he signs a new deal? :p

Not pessimism at all, I have never rated Walcott and his performances so far this season have been good but haven't changed that.

I reckon Sturridge could improve a lot if he gets regular game time. The price is steep, but it's a 50-50 move for him IMO, could be the next Carroll or could be a star.

Ye basically this is the case. Fact it City nor Chelsea never really gave him a proper chance. They are two probably the worse big clubs in england, especially for a young english talent to be at unless you are exceptional like Rooney or Wilshire.

We all know football is tough business for young players & some young talent make a mark instantly, but others need some time & for managers to back them. When he was loaned @ bolton, owen coyle backed him & he looked very good.

I see a lot of a young Defoe in sturridge. Defoe for years was always the sub & no manager trusted him. ABV is the first manager to trust defoe & look what he is doing now.

Liverpool is probably the best club for Sturridge, but i can understand why pool fans would be nervous about buying him since its not a investment they had to make.

Sweet. :D

What happened to Sahin btw?

Apparently he's still injured since sustaining a blow against Udinese in the Europa League, but regardless, Brendan's signed him offering such huge wages only to 1) Leave him warming the benches; 2) Play him anywhere but his favorite "regista" position (Sahin himself complained about how Rodgers has played him out of position).

Can't see us signing him on a permanent deal next season.

Really feel we should have signed Gaston Ramirez for 15m, instead of Joe Allen, considering we already have enough defensive CMs in our ranks. Liverpool fans barely even realize we desperately need a CAM, simply cos our shortage of strikers makes them overlook this scenario completely!

Where exactly have Liverpool been playing him then, behind the striker?

And what's the situation with Lucas Leiva's injury, any progress?

In an advanced role in a 4-3-3 (neither a CAM, nor a CDM), with Gerrard and Allen doing the defensive duties. He played Pirlo's role back in Dortmund, that earned him Bundesliga's player of the year award, but now....

He returned a fortnight back. :p Has started every league fixture (2 games) since then. :)

Yeah yeah, I remember, then he moved to Real Madrid and it all went down hill from there. The only way I see Rodgers pleasing all parties is if he changes the look of his middle 3(forget the advanced mid) and drop Joe Allen for Sahin(when he's fit).

Ah, very well then, hope he stays fit.

Why on Earth would he be more advanced than Gerrard... Makes no sense.

He could go for a flatter midfield trio or perhaps Gerrard being the CAM. Lucas shouldn't be as advanced as Gerrard.

Precisely what Sahin's been complaining about.

Sahin claims he is being played out of position by Liverpool boss Rodgers

And sort of agree with Epic's revamped Liverpool XI (barring the false 9 part :p), Brendan has always dropped players when they've hit poor form, exempting Gerrard and Allen. Allen needs to be dropped!

Going to need more than just Gerrard for the CAM role though. This isn't the Gerrard of 2005-06, who racked up 22 goals that season under Rafa's reign!

Allen is probably the first name on the teamsheet for him. Rodgers' insistence on using his own players is working against him IMO, for example he never should've picked up the hapless Borini.

That could work too. I just want to see Gerrard playing freely again really, because every time I've watched Liverpool this season(mind you I last watched them before Lucas' return) he's had his mind set on defending and basically covering up for the defense.

Have to agree with this, never really rated Allen and Borini who? :p

That seems fairly recent, surely he'd have had a chat with Brendan by now?

Rodgers won't bow down to his request though, it's what happens with loan signings. You can't let them get too important in the team as they'll be gone before you know it. Sahin's loan never had a buy clause anyway.

He is quality cover really, nothing more.

Yeah, his crossing and dribbling were legendary. Could do a useful job at QPR maybe?
