Football Transfers Thread

I reckon he'll come to us if he leaves Liverpool, no rivalry between us and Liverpool like there is with Man Utd, he gets to learn from the best nurturer of young talent and he will be back in his home city, which is important for him as he was supposedly homesick in Liverpool.

Wenger the best nurturer of young talent?

Two words: Fergie's Fledglings.

Maybe he'll go back to London, but either way, not bidding for him would be really stupid in my opinion. Especially if he ends up at Man bloody City.

Liverpool's slump might encourage him to move somewhere else. I wouldn't bet on Arsenal unless Walcott leaves. There are too many players surplus at the club and they need to be cleared out and free up the wage bill before they can bring anybody in.

i'd laugh really really hard if sterling signed for united.

but

for a talented youngster most local liverpool fans haven't taken to him that much. i remember the excitement when owen came through for them and rooney at everton. but even before this contract stuff nobody liked him. strange.

Could be the tendency to assume up and rising footballers are arrogant. Sterling is calm, haven't seen him do a lot of fuss, perhaps until his contract talks have come into a showdown. But we've had a few last season in the likes of Ravel Morrison and Paul pogba to name a few from United's own academy. Eden hazard on another level.

Or Declining to believe in the player's hype could be a fact too. In Rooney's case it was a mix of both, arrogance and his transfer to United.

Either way Sterling is Liverpool's to lose.

They should move Heaven and Earth to keep him, but I reckon he'll leave.

I repeat, the best nurturer of young talent.

Walcott is gone.

Don't know what's tripping him. He wanted a central role to sign a new contract, now that he's getting it, why doesn't he sign? maybe he has what RvP had in mind not so long ago. So many Arsenal D?j? vu moments.

Biggest bs I've heard just to save face with the fans, it is a wage problem and always has been. He thinks he deserves more than van Persie was getting. He is deluded.

If it really is for the central striker role though, he should stay, no question now that he has had his chance, the grass won't always be greener elsewhere. He is unfortunately a nailed-on starter and wouldn't be at Man Utd. I'm sure he won't want to go overseas and Liverpool is a step down for sure.

The media said the same about van Persie. He was gone before the end of last season though.

If he was going to sign, he would have already.

Sterling wouldn't be a big loss IMO. Replace him with someone good for a change, not another Downing, and it would be an improvement for the short term. Liverpool need players who can play now, Sterling is very good and has huge potential, but he's very raw and lacks proper end product, he's a run of the mill young dribbling/pace merchant, like Zaha and Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Sterling is the real deal. I think people are failing to appreciate just how mature his play is at such a young age. Yeah he's fast and agile and that is at the core of his style of play but he's a lot more than that. He's able to incorporate his physical attributes with an incredibly impressive reading of the game (something I've not seen from a youngster in a long time, especially not an English one). He's always looking up, always looking where the ball should go to next rather than simply thinking about where it is in the current.

Exactly, which is why if he becomes available, not bidding for him would be the height of stupidity.

Yeah it's good he's not another head down dribbler like Moses.

He's a really solid player, but he definitely lacks a really high quality final ball atm so he won't be a big loss at all to Liverpool as I reckon they could replace him with someone who meets their needs better. He's also goes missing in games and is inconsistent in general, that is expected from someone of his age.

IMO he's better than both Zaha and Oxlade-Chamberlain atm as he's definitely not as flaky as Zaha and he has actually performed well in more than just three or four matches like Oxlade-Chamberlain.

In other news, we've apparently signed a guy called Stopilla Sunzu. He scored the winning penalty against the Ivory Coast in the AFCON. I don't even know where he plays, but I like his name:lol. Hopefully we sign Yaya Banana too to go with him, if he's a CB I like a CB pairing with a guy called Banana and Stopilla.
