Football Transfers Thread

Maybe it's possible, but last I heard, West Ham can trigger Carroll's release clause if they want to, even if Liverpool want to keep him. They'd be stupid not to IMO, he is the perfect striker for their system.

Liverpool with Ba would be a very good team though.

Plus it's Daily Star anyway.

Ha ye, but to be honest i actually saw the story of espnsoccernet. However when i clicked the link, it took me to daily star.

But with Pardew signing a new 8-year deal, to me selling Ba would seem counter productive cause its clear Newcastle are trying to break into the top 4 eventually.

The guy's unhappy at Newcastle though, I don't think they want to keep someone that doesn't want to be there. He's been second fiddle to Cisse ever since Cisse arrived (perhaps due to the release clause in his contract, Newcastle wanted to make Cisse their main man?). The release clause is a big problem, if it's still active, getting Carroll as opposed to just money would be good business.

However, it'll be very hard for them to let go of someone playing as well as he is now.

Yea the Ba and Caroll situations will be one of the more interesting player movements of the January transfer window.

Ba's wage demands were unreal, which's what pissed Pardew off..
Would be a good addition to Liverpool though.

Also hearing we're already planning on holding talks over making Sahin's move a permanent one. Fair enough, considering the guy's got 3 goals and 3 assists in his first 4 games.

Why do players who have earned so much money feel there's some desperate need for a 2 year+ contracts as they get old? What's wrong with just playing it year by year from then on? Clearly the club should be looking at potential younger replacements, and with time on the side of anyone coming through equal performances means the younger player should have the edge.

Likewise, if they want to experience something else then just move on. So many players who have a ridiculous sense of self-entitlement.

With Bertrand coming through, tell Cole to do one :p

agreed with the bit in bold. the reason is greed.

It's probably because it's much harder to overcome a career threatening injury as you get older therefore longer contracts are kind of like insurance.

But you could extend it and say once you have been on 40k+ a week for 3 years or so, why do you even need paying at all anymore? For us normal folk it makes no sense to want money once you reach a certain threshold, your quality of life won't really improve. yet 95% (or whatever) of people who earn that amount always seem to want more.

A bit of RvP like saga in it, sure, if it's true. But the possibility of 4 left backs (on-loan fabio) can prove costly to handle unless someone has to leave. I may be wrong. But wouldn't mind having a solid player in Cole anyway in a defence that's running on thin lines atm.

But for Chelsea, the prospect of Bertrand at left back more often would be a natural transition. That should contribute to the transition of the club in the first place too, which is more or less what they're aiming for. Interesting consequences to follow up if the transfer happens.

Back to yesterday's game, I hope the hunt for midfielders tones down a bit after seeing Fletcher last night. Great stuff. Carrick would be eased efrom the positional burden if fletcher can stay fit and healthy.

Easy stuff really. Sell Evra buy Cole. Instant upgrade. Some French team or lower PL team will surely take him.

Problem solved.
