Football Transfers Thread

He and the board have said that for the last five years, we'll sign no one for more than 15 m, maybe 17 or 18 m max. If we spend it'll be on a bunch of project players.

Just trying to appease the fans really.

Yeah it's good he's not another head down dribbler like Moses.

He's a really solid player, but he definitely lacks a really high quality final ball atm so he won't be a big loss at all to Liverpool as I reckon they could replace him with someone who meets their needs better. He's also goes missing in games and is inconsistent in general, that is expected from someone of his age.

IMO he's better than both Zaha and Oxlade-Chamberlain atm as he's definitely not as flaky as Zaha and he has actually performed well in more than just three or four matches like Oxlade-Chamberlain.

In other news, we've apparently signed a guy called Stopilla Sunzu. He scored the winning penalty against the Ivory Coast in the AFCON. I don't even know where he plays, but I like his name:lol. Hopefully we sign Yaya Banana too to go with him, if he's a CB I like a CB pairing with a guy called Banana and Stopilla.

Moses is not an all out dribbler, he held the final 3rd very well last season at Wigan. He'd somewhat of an enforcing role at Chelsea so far, but i would like to see that change. Sterling is a different player, he's done a bit more than Rodgers' tiki taka style and held the web of play numerous times, but his flair has helped 'Pool create chances too to save them from dropping into the obscurity.

what if Zaha signs for Liverpool haha. :wave

They would be stupid to do have two young English wingers, as well as Suso on the books without a proper experienced/quality winger, both Borini and Downing are obviously cack. He definitely wouldn't go there. Replacing Sterling with Zaha would also be a bit of a let down as well. Zaha is more experienced and strong, but Sterling is more proven at the top level.

Then again, it's Liverpool. They are notorious for their awful transfers.

Hearing Blackpool's Thomas Ince is all but a done deal. Sold him at the start of last season for just 250k (KENNNNNYYY!!!), and since then he seems to have come leaps and bounds, and we're apparently looking to bringing him back for 4m courtesy of a buy-back clause inserted during his sale that suggests we would pay only 66% of his valuated transfer fee (6m). Thoughts?

Personally think it's a decent deal, considering a) He's only 21. b) 4m is alright for a British player, who are mightily overpriced nowadays, c) We need a wide player and he can play anywhere upfront (RW, LW, ST), d) Know it's only the Championship, but 13 goals so far this season is impressive regardless.

Good deal. Don't expect anything immediate though, just because it's the Championship. Taarabt for example was tearing up the Championship, now look at him...

Taarabt isn't bad at all. QPR have been a terrible bunch this season and apparently getting a properly decent communication across the new set of players must've set him back a bit initially. Reminds me of Ben arfa. took time early on to settle in a bit but became a key player thereafter. In the rumours world though word is that United are tracking Taarabt. Maybe SAF sees another cheeky deal?

He's improved for sure, but the step up is still hard to adjust to for some, Taarabt is an example, fairly ineffectual last season though he's improved this one. That's merely an example though, there are others.

I'd love Taarabt at Liverpool! Would add that extra bite at CAM we so badly lack.

Meanwhile.......

BBC Sport - Liverpool: Daniel Sturridge & Thomas Ince close to joining

Ben Smith gets it right 99.99% when it comes to transfer dealings.

:facepalm:facepalm:facepalm

Just shoot me already please.

Basically you also bought Carroll for West ham for 35m. That's how it looks like without him replaced. ;p

Ince is promising But no wonder why a cost-cutting-youth-oriented Rodgers would find it hard to undo Kenny's mistakes, if he really stays beyond the season you have to hope there's betterment. HA.

I'm actually fine regarding Ince. It's regarding Sturridge, who imo is by far the most brainless "striker" in the Premiership, I'm gutted about. 12M bloody hell!!! Surely we could have roped the wayyy better Theo Walcott instead of him, for a much cheaper deal?

--------------------------------

Exactly how difficult is it, to build a team as this?

OUT:

Joe Cole (2m)
Downing (5m)

IN:

Taarabt (7m)
Ince (4m)
Walcott (10m)
Huntelaar (8m)

Net expenditure: 22m (compared to Rodgers' 16m as it stands)

Suarez----------Huntelaar-----------Walcott

-----Lucas--------Taarabt-----------Gerrard

Enrique----Agger-----Skrtel-------------Johnson

--------------------Reina---------------------------------

Huntelaar's a long shot, in which case Suarez can always play the central role, with Walcott and Sterling/Ince playing out wide.

This is the sad thing about transfer market for talented english players. They are so bloody overpriced due to wealth of the premier league.

Andy Carroll is the perfect example in recent years. Its was ridiculous that liverpool payed newcastle for him, the same money that barca payed valencia for david villa. He was totally weighed down by the price tag by the dumb media etc, since the Caroll @ newcastle was very promising.

Carrick & Glen Johnson for a while also suffered the same problems.

The possibilities for chants are endless... :D

Ironic how you call Sturridge brainless then praise Walcott in the next sentence:p. Walcott is also fairly brainless, and not a genuine striker by any means. All he has in his locker are his pace and finishing as well.

I reckon Sturridge could improve a lot if he gets regular game time. The price is steep, but it's a 50-50 move for him IMO, could be the next Carroll or could be a star.

On Huntelaar (and Holtby), I heard Raphael Honigstein said they are close to signing new deals. He is about the most reliable source there is for German football.

What happened to Sahin btw?

The commentary is what I'd look forward too:D.

"Hey you, Stopilla!"

"And Banana has peeled away from the defender and scored a peach of a goal!"
