Tottenham close on Sneijder - report - ESPN FC

Hmm well this would be huge if its actually comes through for spurs. Since it was only the other day i was thinking off all the top english clubs who could do with sneijder it would be liverpool. Spurs clearly don't need him, but if they get it would give them another dimension & once again beating pool to the punch.

That will put off any potential bidding chances for Moutinho. He fits better as their long term target. Unless Sneijder comes in on the cheap, I don't see it possibly happening, and United would make the first move ahead of them if he's a bargain though.

They definitely do need a player like him. Dempsey is way too slow mentally and Sigurdsson is just plain average. Without van der Vaart they really lack that creative spark centrally.

Well i don't know if "need" is the word, since essentially spurs play a counter-attacking game as you know, in which they depend on bale, lennon, defoe for their creativity and goals.

So in that sense, i'd say spurs could equally buy another back-up winger for bale/lennon & just leave the central mid-field area to be marshaled by physical player like dembele/sandro/parker.

But of course if they want that creative player to give them a second option, then yea they could do with a sneijder or mouthino (if they really can get them).

Nice read. Would dearly love Lewis Holtby at Liverpool. With his contract expiring come summer, he should be available for less than 10M. He's an Everton fan though, similar to how Joe Allen was a Man Utd fan. :spy

Never heard of a Sam Byram before (linked with the Merseyside clubs), but I don't mind a new 19 year old fullback either to cover for Enrique.

-----------------Suarez
Downing/Sterling - Holtby - Sturridge
------------Gerrard-----Lucas---
Enrique---Agger------Skrtel-------Johnson

When Dembele is controlling the midfield and Bale is in superhuman mode everything is fine but I've seen plenty of games this season where they've just been completely shot of any creativity (mainly when Dembele doesn't play). Dempsey and Siggy just don't cut it for me and I think a return to a 4-2-3-1 with a top quality playmaker would be better as Adebayor hasn't really impressed this season. That said Defoe, seems to work better in a 2 man attack. Maybe a striker would be better lol.
