Football Transfers Thread

Next four years. And it's NOT due to the FFP.

Clubs must pay their football and tax debts as a condition of getting a license from their national association to play in UEFA competitions.

This rule's always been around and has just gotten more attention because of all the media outcry about FFP and investors.

It's sad for Malaga fans, this means they're pretty much done. They'll struggle to keep any of their decent players now.

Looks like Sahin is set to join Dortmund on loan for the rest of the season with an option to buy at the end, good on Dortmund I must say.

Gary Hooper. He has apparently turned down a contract extension at Celtic, despite them being in the last 16 of the Champions League. Is he expecting to move back to England in the summer? Chris Hughton went to watch Celtic in the new year and while it wasn't Hooper he was watching (we could never afford him) it did start some rumours.

Scoring goals in Scotland means nothing

It's like playing Sunday league football, Jelavic at Everton is the exception.

Boyd came to English football after scoring bucket loads for Rangers, look how that turned out.

it's no more easy than it is than scoring loads in holland, switzerland or belgium for example, and yet you'll find players brought up in those leagues doing fine in more competitive leagues.

stats could well be misleading from weaker leagues but it doesn't mean it's impossible a player doesn't have the qualities to do well in a bigger league. steven fletcher is doing well for sunderland, barry ferguson had several seasons were he was among evertons best players.

not many sunday leagues produce teams that beat barcelona, hooper's been excellent in the champions league as well.

Supposedly Etienne Capoue is on his way to Everton for 10-12 million euros as a replacement for Fellaini. Thoughts Evertonians?

I really don't see how that works tbh, Capoue is what Fellaini used to be, a destroyer in the middle of the park, he most certainly isn't going to be playing in the hole, unless one of Mirallas, Anichebe or Naismith will play there permanently. Maybe a Neville replacement?

Bit gutted we seem to be missing out on him, that is a good price for the best DM in Ligue 1. We are severely lacking bite in the middle, and as good as Diaby is he is the opposite of reliable. Arteta isn't looking quite up to the DM role either.

M'Vila also going to QPR for around 8 million pounds I hear, disappointing yet again. Can't believe he's fallen so far that we haven't made an offer after offering 20 million pounds two seasons ago.

Yeah they will need him for the CL for sure, but not the league.

Fine job is overstating it, but they have been doing some sort of job and it has been getting goals. When I have watched Juventus this season they haven't stood out as absolutely dire either. They aren't good but with the service they get it shouldn't be a problem.

Vucinic is good though, and while Giovinco is incredibly wasteful he is still a very good player.

Plus I think you are taking it for granted that Llorente will hit the ground running.

Cavani would be the perfect big striker for Juventus to cop.

I don't watch ligue 1, but i have seen capoue and if true that would indeed be a solid signing for everton. But guys like sissoko (toulouse), alou diarra, matudi, mavuba & gonalos are your typical hard french defensive mid-fielders who seem to be of a similar standard based on what i've seen of all of tem.

If QPR does get villa that would be massive too, along with the news that striker remy is going to them. I want qpr to stay up just because harry is their coach ha..

Agreed, but I think Cavani is more in the Chelsea/Man City/PSG/Real price range.

Napoli would be foolish to sell him atm anyway.

Sissoko had huge potential a few seasons ago but has dropped off a bit, Capoue is definitely the better of the two in the Toulouse midfield. Though Sissoko is definitely a viable cheap option with his contract expiring. There is a good chance Sissoko will come to the Premier League or go to a bigger French club by the looks of it.

All the others you have stated there are very good, but don't have the potential Capoue has, and Capoue has been better than a few of them anyway.

I want Man Utd to sign Capoue, he would be the perfect ball winner for them.

I think you mean M'Vila, David Villa is most certainly not going to QPR:p. Remy is a good signing, he is a higher mid-table level player near Newcastle or Everton standard. He has raw pace and can finish though is brainless. He is a good signing, M'Vila is an incredible coup and should become a permanent starter.

I'd like to see them stay up as well and think they can go on a run like Wigan did last season, they have the star power for sure. That would pave the way for some really good top half finishes from next season.

Even if they go down, a lot of their players will be back in the PL. Let's have a look. M'Vila, Remy, Taarabt, SWP, Park, Hoilett, Granero, Zamora, Bosingwa, Fabio, Ferdinand, Mbia, and of course Cesar should all be good enough to come back. So that gives you an idea of the power of their squad. With Harry's man management skills I reckon this lot have a good chance of staying up. They certainly won't finish bottom. Only five points off safety now.

Can't see use spending 10 million euros on a cm this window. We need a CB as Heitinga is on his way out, and bar the fee for heitinga we have very little money to spend.

If we had money to spend it'd make sense. Fellaini is playing advanced, so the CMs we have are osman, gibson, neville and hitzlesperger. The only play the correct side of 30 is seemingly quite injury prone, so capouen would be a good addition, just not a feasible one.

Surely with Chelsea looking to take Fellaini for 25 million pounds, 10 million euros shouldn't be too much?

I read a rumor that Everton were looking to cash in on Victor Anichebe as well (5M). Can't recall where that came from though..

Anyway, looks like Vegard Forren's on his way to Southampton for 3M, citing first team football (was only wanted for a trial at Liverpool). Right call from the player imo, because I always felt it was a tad insulting to a 24 year old player to be just offered a trial at a not-so-great-club at the moment like Liverpool, especially having won the Norwegian Tippeligaen player of the year award in 2012 with Molde FK.
