100k/week plus a 3M signing-on fee for Walcott sounds absolutely ridiculous, considering the much better Cavani's only at 65k/week, Lewandowski at 70k/week, and Marco Reus at 80k/week.... Bloody inflated British market! Think he leapfrogs Podolski now to become Arsenal's highest paid player as well.
Your views, Don?
Cavani isn't on 65 K a week any more, he is on closer to 150 K, he signed a bumper new deal in the summer. Besides, all this talk of us signing Cavani is funny. We're not going to randomly treble our transfer record lol...
I wish the other two were available, but they just aren't. Reus if he came to the BPL would be the best player in the league I reckon.
I'm not sure where 100 K came from though, that would be our highest wages ever for a player, van Persie was only offered slightly more than that. 100 K is not in the article.
Anyway, he has been improving and from both his personality and his performances on the pitch you can tell he works very hard and wants to succeed. Things may not have gone to plan so far in his development prior to this season, but maybe now he can begin to really kick start his career as a top player. He just needs to improve his consistency, which he has already done to some extent, and he also needs to improve his ability with his back to the goal, and he'll be a good striker for many years to come.

well, remember you need to have 8 players trained in england for 3 years before they're 21 for the PL and CL, and for the CL 4 of those need to be trained at the club. walcott qualifies as both for arsenal. if they let him go and brought in cavani they'd get a better striker but have to register another english arsenal trained player in his place.
they cost more because they are technically more valuable. still over priced but that's certainly an aspect to it.
(stuff that I only know through playing football manager)
Szczesny, Diaby, Wilshere, Ramsey, Djourou, Coquelin, Jenkinson, Gibbs, Frimpong and Miyaichi. Even though Frimpong and Djourou are likely to be gone in the summer, we've still got these homegrown players in abundance and could buy more if we wanted.
Fact is though, when you consider our wage and transfer policy, it's not about the number of home-grown players, it's about the fact that Walcott is the best player available. Plus as a bonus he qualifies as home-grown

That should be Nigel Adkins
