To replace Ba perhaps?

Cisse cost the best part of 10 mil and has decent goal scoring record.

Newcastle play with 1 striker a lot now, ameobi isn't good enough as a second choice striker so they do need someone to come in, there may not be a point in breaking the bank to sign someone who will only start in around half of the matches.

So much for "My waiting game is not down to the money" eh, Wesley? :rolleyes

Wanted 100k/week excluding taxes from Liverpool, meaning we had to offer him around 190k/week. He can nicely fudge off.

Our only problem is if Cisse gets a broken leg or some other injury putting him out for the rest of the season, who is going to score our goals? Ameobi, Ranger? I don't think so. Don't know why we don't go for someone like Danny Graham who is a Geordie so gets what it is like to play for such a big club and is a decent enough back up striker

Yep, one good striker is not enough that's for sure.

Wouldn't be surprised if Pardew goes looking in France again, Gomis and Gouffran are good strikers who have been linked with exits. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is great as well.

He is the big one who has been linked with us, but I don't think he wants to move until the summer

He is a great player, pretty much Loic Remy but with more of a brain. He will be a lot better than Ba ever was on the wings as well.

One important thing about Newcastle is that the first XI is great but it is injury prone, and when you look at that squad they have it is overall very average. More signings like Aubameyang will help. Some more solid signings to add depth and that is a really good team.

The problem is, Ashley wants to make us financially stable and as a result we can't have that many players eating into our wages. However, the longer we go with this current regime, means more money can be re-invested in players and we can build up a quality squad.

Even with injuries, 1 striker and 1 CB and we look pretty sexy fully fit

Krul

Debuchy, Colo, S.Taylor/New CB, Santon
Tiote, Anita
Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Guiterrez
Cisse

Reserves: Elliot, Williamson, Perch, R.Taylor, Simpson, Ferguson, Obertan, Marveaux, Ranger, Ameobi/New CF

If you look in recent months. Williamson, Perch, Simpson, Ferguson, Obertan, and Marveaux have all been starting for us which has basically meant we have been playing a majority reserve team.

Only Krul, Santon and Cisse have basically spent the season un-injured

Where's Bigirimana (spellcheck)? Thought he was alright in the games he did start.

He is just an average player. Needs experience to develop, a year in the Championship and he'll become quite good. Till then, not that good.

How do you think Anita is adjusting to the league, Tom?

I remember when I was watching him a lot at the start of the season he was pretty bad.

That is a very good side but still some holes. Ben Arfa is very inconsistent, Gutierrez isn't top notch, Tiote is the usual loose cannon, Cisse doesn't look like he can score on a regular basis and the defence don't seem to work all that well as a unit. It's a good side on paper but over a whole Premier League season that team would be mid-table, 6th or 7th at best.

Bigirimanna is a project. Marveaux has been all right recently, bit of a fractured start to his Newcastle career due to injury, looks like another heavily injury prone Ben Arfa to me, but without the huge talent.

I'd remove Gutierrez out of that Newcastle side if it was not for Santon.

Speaking of Newcastle, I was at Carrow Road for the Norwich v Newcastle game it is comfortably the worst game of football I have ever seen.
