Perhaps, that is one thing I thought of, but for example if his knees were to go out next week, that's a significant amount of money that has to be paid for nothing. May as well pick up a Cavani or Falcao for that.

Hopefully for the league sake, his knee's dont go ever. Would be a tragic way for a player of such quality to end his career.

Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh makes loan move to West Ham | West Ham United News, Fixtures, Results, Transfers | Sky Sports

Don should be elated I'm guessing? ;)

What's it with Sam Allardyce signing opposition deadwoods though? First Carroll and Benayoun (who's now back at Chelsea), now Joe Cole and Chamakh?! Terrible piece of business.

Allardyce has a habit of rejuvenating "deadwood" or players past their peak. His Bolton side was a perfect example of this.

Kirchhoff to Bayern on a free. Holtby to Spurs on a free.

Bundesliga is a damn gold mine for talent at the moment; pound for pound you won't find better deals in any other league.

At some point he will get injured and he won't play again is the basic gist of Ba's problems.

As has been said, for Chelsea it really doesn't matter as they can afford the probably astronomical insurance so that in the event he gets injured, they are compensated anyway.

Benayoun was a good player for us, he may have been a deadwood for Chelsea but there was every chance he could be a really good player for a mid-table club. He still could be, but perhaps West Ham was the wrong destination for him, they like the stronger, tank-like players. I feel Joe Cole may go down the same route.

I have a feeling Chamakh could really do well there this season, with a small change of scenery he could get back to his form of 10/11 when RVP was injured, and he'll actually get crosses too.

One of the best transfer windows ever for Arsenal possible. Chamakh is gone, Squillaci and Djourou could be gone soon too as well, plus some guys are coming in!

Just read on a few sites that Isco's got a ?17m release clause, wouldn't mind triggering that bad boy. :D

Yeah he does, it's not that easy though. We could get him too at that price. He'll most likely go for more as there'll be a big bidding war. Every English club, Real, Barca and perhaps some Italian and German clubs would love him at that price. Should go for closer to 25-30 m. Perhaps the best young player in Europe.

He'll be cup tied so I doubt he'll leave this season, but next season he'll be gone for sure as Malaga are disqualified from the CL.

Oh really, I thought if clubs matched the release clause then it was all down to the player...

Nah I'm pretty sure it'll become a bidding war if more are interested.

Either way he isn't going to choose Man City ahead of Real/Barca.

Ofc, but the same was said for Silva and Mata, look where they are now...

I think Epic's right regarding the release clause - Laudrup was adamant to not let go of Joe Allen, but once we triggered Joe's 15M release clause, he was quoted saying something like "now that they've triggered it, it all really comes down to Joe..."

Yeah but you were the only ones interested, that's how it works when there's just one team, not multiple. Isco is quite a bit better than Allen.
