Football Transfers Thread

Arsenal don't need an expensive center-back in reality.

We need a new CB, fourth choice at least. Koscielny and Vermaelen are far too similar and don't work together, that's why Mertesacker plays most games since he offers something different.

Rami is different to Koscielny and Vermaelen and is more of a slower CB who uses his positional sense as opposed to pace like a covering CB would.

And yes we definitely need a new CB as our current CBs are useless. Koscielny is good on his day but he like the others are far too error prone, Vermaelen is just terrible full stop and Mertesacker is far too slow and clumsy, he struggles to deal with the pace of the league.

I don't watch much France but from what I hear Rami and Koscielny work well when they play together, so that is a partnership I'd like to see. We'll hold on to Vermaelen and Mertesacker as well and get rid of one of the three at the end of the 13/14 season perhaps.

Rumours now that Utd have made a move for Falcao. Whether that's true or not, we're crying out for a solid midfielder more than anything else. Just think - had we had a solid midfield, how far clear would we be?

"Manchester City are something I want to do, yes, but it is difficult for me to move my family abroad at the moment," he said in the Sunday Mirror. "I have to consider others, not just myself."

I know someone who has plenty of something that might just be able get you through it all without your family. :D

With that said, I reckon Mancini gets another year...

Mancini deserves another year really.

Probably does, but if anything's going to cost him, it's going to be that horrendous CL campaign we put on show for all.

I still remember the comment he made in the window when he bought the Arsenal players he said "I need to buy more players" (to sit on the bench ! :p) , Mancini has been good so far . The FA Cup might even get him a contract extension forgetting the horrible CL & Europa .

--------Aguero/Tevez/Dzeko-------
Nico Gaitan---Gotze---------Lamela
--------Yaya Toure---Matuidi---------
Filipe Luis--Nastasic---Kompany--Zabaleta
--------------Hart-------------------------

Get rid of Clichy/Kolarov, Sinclair/Milner and Barry/Rodwell and that's next year's Premiership Champions right there. Also Mancini deserves another year imo

And what about Silva?;)

They do need a hard worker in the attacking mid ranks, Milner or Tevez fits the bill nicely, hence their importance.

I hope Dortmund manage to keep a hold of Gotze and co. :(

Obviously they would.

I think Arsenal are making a bid of 30 m for Gotze , many articles tipping that he'll join the gunners, should be a good move . Arsenal lack players in midfield other than the likes of Jack,Caz & Lukas . Mikel is kinda old , but I'd play him though . Rami should be a good one

Midfield (4)

-----------Arteta-----------------
Cazorla----Gotze----------Podolski

I don't think there's much in the Arsenal rumor. Firstly, it's Arsene Wenger. 30 million? Secondly, he's a sure starter at one of the better teams in Europe. It's a step backwards. The club may or not accept a bid, but I don't think he will be too willing. At this stage, I'd say only United, City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and if he's willing to risk the vitriol of Dortmund fans, Bayern. Maybe PSG or Chelsea if they come in with the big bucks. But once again, most of these teams haven't even been linked with him.

Well, we can't just "get rid" of all the English players and replace them with foreigners(UEFA homegrown rule, I know it's meant to protect the youth players, but sadly, City doesn't see it as such). Matter of fact, out of all the English players, I reckon Sinclair's the only one who's going to get loaned/sold.

Me too, but it's obviously hard for them, they don't make a whole lot of revenue(in comparison to the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Bayern Munich) and thus the "bigger clubs" constantly look to poach their top quality talent.
