Football Transfers Thread

It all depends on the contract... if it's a full year deal then it goes on to the date in which you signed the contract, so Pellegrini would've had to been signed for the rest of the '10-11 season and 2 years after that for his contract to expire at the end of this season.

----------

Hope that's not confusing because I confused myself typing that up. :p

Haha, that ain't confusing in reality.:p

Somebody suggested that the release clause could've been waived as compensation for Pellegrini's wages at Malaga. If that's the case, then Malaga are in serious trouble.

Wait, if that's the case wouldn't they actually want the ?4m to payoff Pellegrini?

Apparently, Aguero has told senior team mates that he wants to leave the Etihad.

We should 'ave a go if that's true. I know they'd never sell him to us, but it would be a suitable riposte to the Tevez transfer. :D

Tevez was a loanee, Aguero is our property, see the difference? :rolleyes

----------

As far as real threats(from our perspective) for Aguero go, Barcelona or Real Madrid seem likely, probably Barcelona with Messi(godfather of Aguero's son) there and what not...

He's not good enough, but it's not his fault Man U just threw cash at him. To a club like Man U dropping 10m on a gamble is fair game. To everyone else, it's a potential marquee signing.
The more I read about the deal, the more I think it was a "favour" for Jorge Mendes. :spy

Speaking from a Man City fan's point of view (yes, I can do that ;) ) I would be expecting the club to move Heaven and Earth to keep Aguero. From a Utd fan's point of view, if I could cherry pick one player to remove from City, I'd choose Aguero; it would massively weaken the team regardless of who they bring in.

I am not high on Rooney at all. United would be lucky to get more than ?20m for him. Vastly, VASTLY overrated.

I'm beginning to think that maybe the arrival of Moyes is the best thing that could've happened for Rooney. Maybe he has tired of the current management - a new man in charge might reignite Rooney. After all, he's 27 people - that's supposed to be the time when a striker reaches their peak, not when people are writing them off as a virtual has-been!

I know Rooney and Moyes have had their issues, but that was a long time ago and Rooney has grown up (somewhat) since then. ;)

I'd actually want Yaya if I was United supporter, and IIRC, during his rather short transfer saga you spoke with very high interest. :p

What if he's a Tevez/Torres type of player, early peak, but a rather painful end with signs of brilliance here and there...

Rooney is a Torres type of player, he's already played lots of games. His peak as a striker is long gone.

And I'd welcome Falcao moving to Monaco, would add a bit of competition to the Ligue 1.

Tricky one - maybe you're right after all we need a holding player more than a striker and Yaya can do any job in midfield you ask of him. There's just something about Aguero though - his footwork in crowded penalty areas is just sublime. Whenever he gets the ball in that area, I expect him to score - like in the second Manchester derby - you just knew he'd score. And of course, without Aguero, we wouldn't have had that abomination last season. :p

Hmmm. I'm beginning to think more and more that Rooney's decline is down to his lifestyle: his falling out with Sir Alex was about lifestyle. He definitely has a lot more weight on him than he did as a youngster, and I can't remember the last time he went on one of those fantastic runs where he beats two or three people. Such a shame - perhaps he is one of those players who peaked too soon?

For me, his future at Utd or anywhere else lies in midfield.

Just imagine that, Silva and Isco coming at you as one. :D

Mhm, Monaco eh...

Monaco? I thought his preference was Real Madrid.
