Yeah and Modric has only recently started making his way into the Real first team. It would be silly to give up now, like Fabregas would be silly to give up now.

Dunno about that, I thought he might be a long-term replacement for Alonso but they signed Illaramendi.

Add in Isco and possibly Bale, Modric will probably be far down the pecking order.

When you see things like Gareth Bale for ?100 m you realise ?40 m isn't exactly as much as it seems.

I think ?40 m is low if anything for Fabregas, he is a world class player and in terms of attainable players (i.e. not Iniesta or Xavi for example) he is one of the best in the world creatively. He is easily better than Mata, Cazorla and Silva and the latter cost around ?30 m three years ago, so ?40 m for Fabregas still represents very good value when you realise he is proven in the league unlike the other three were and he's a lot more established. He will run things in the final third.

I think a ?50-60 m bid would be needed to convince Barca though.

On the topic of Bale, ?100 m is absolutely ridiculous, I can't believe Madrid would pay that and Levy the idiot would even consider rejecting it. Bale is worth around ?50 m no more than ?60 m.

Cesc isn't worth a penny over ?30m and definitely isn't better than Mata or Silva IMO.

Silva is just far too inconsistent, he was brilliant in the first half of 11/12 and has struggled to hit those heights since then. He seems scared of scoring as well.

Cesc on the other hand pulled the strings for us for years and was very productive for Barca in the last couple of years.

Mata is solid but doesn't have anything on Cesc other than he is more versatile, he will not pick out some of the passes Cesc can and he isn't going to score as many either.

Right, so Cesc is worth less than ?30 m and Suarez is worth ?55 m?

Suarez is worth ?45m max, but we have to play hardball and rate him at ?55m, considering he's our only prized asset..
