Barcelona: Manchester United have given up on Fabregas - ESPN FC

Good. Now Moyes can go after people who might actually come to United.

Trouble is, it doesn't look as though we've got that many 'irons in the fire' - seems we've had tunnel vision over Fabregas. I doubt the whole Ronaldo thing will happen as well. I mean, where are we supposed to get ?80m anyway - if that's what Real would want for him - they'll probably want more, given they paid ?80m to start with.

Looks like Rooney has to go - as soon as it starts blowing up in the dressing room, the situation has to be addressed. Several of the Man Utd 'senior' players are said to be losing patience with him.

He obviously has to go, but i'm just not comfortable with him going to Chelsea from an English & 2014 world cup perspective.

Madrid technically need a replacement or back-up for Benzema, so i'm monitoring what they do because somehow i think their pursuit of Bale has been a smokescreen to get Ronaldo to sign a new contract. They need a striker more than Bale.

Neither am I; going from one Premiership team to another slightly lower team :D (bring it, Lee :D :D :D ) will have no benefit whatsoever for England. Rooney to Madrid would be great and could even grease the wheels of the Ronaldo business. Personally I reckon Cristiano will stay put and then come home after his Real contract is up - or five minutes before so they can cash in... ;)

Bale is just so ridiculous Tottenhum should just let him go now, just imagine the players they can get with that sort of money.

But I have to say Brendan Rodgers made great signings this summer thus far, Iago Aspas is doing great, he was great in the friendly's seems to have a good finesse shot on him. And Luis Alberto a great prospect, almost like a Iniesta kind of player can get assists and goals but still he is way to young, a loan spell should help out. And regarding goal keepers I think Mignolet is the perfect fit to our team. #YNWA

Yeah yeah yeah :lol

I don't want Rooney please keep him, I actually don't think anyone other than us is that interested in him, especially not at the 30m plus it's gonna take to land him, he is no way worth that.

The only good thing is if he comes to us and has to sit on the bench it may mean he doesn't get picked for England so then it's :thumbs all round considering he has done nothing in a 3 lions shirt in 9 years

It's such a shame Rooney clearly hasn't taken care of himself - had he hit the gym as much as Ronaldo obviously has, he'd be as good as he was at 20 yrs old and then some.

Can't remember where I read this, but some guy said at 16 he was playing like a 22 yr old; at 22 he was playing like a 27 yr old; at 27, he's playing like a 33 yr old. :facepalm He's absolutely not the same player who signed for us, that's for sure.

As for Osman to Utd. No. Just no. He's a decent player, but he's not Man Utd's level.

The fact Rooney is a smoker tells you all you need to know about his attitude to being a Premier League footballer.

Quite so. I wonder: could signing for Man Utd be the worst thing to happen for him? Perhaps it made him more complacent than if he'd stayed with Everton. I don't know. It's a damn shame either way - but he's only 27; if he really wanted to, he could lick himself into shape especially with all the PTs etc he could call upon.

Trouble is he doesn't seem to want to. Someone should make a real effort to get him into a gym, and get him off the damn cancer sticks.

Luis Suarez has done a big interview with The Telegraph claiming there is a clause in his contract that says he could leave if Liverpool didn't qualify for the Champions League last season. Explosive stuff.
