Football Transfers Thread

Word now seems to be that Spurs could get something like ?74m in cash and Fabio Coentrao from Real Madrid in exchange for Bale. Not a bad deal, but then Spurs will need an attacker with that money before the deadline.

This article has got me thinking...

Tottenham shouldn't sell Bale this season imo, it's far too late to do the deal. firstly, most of the top notch transfer targets have either already gone to their new club or have finally committed to staying. secondly, with 2 weeks to the deadline and this transfer still not wrapped up they've not got much time to negotiate with other clubs. I mean, if I'm team X and tottenham come along wanting my best player I'm not quoting them a fair price, they've just made 100m and they have 3 days to convince me to sell.

probably for the best if they do what united did with ronaldo, get him to stay for another season with an agreement to sell next year. real madrid took far too long to emerge with such a defining offer, coming out of the blue at the start of august with some huge summer-defining deal isn't really a good way of doing business.

Now the latest is that Moyes will try and get Felliani for ?18m - now that his ?24m buyout clause has ended. :facepalm I hope that is just a rumour otherwise it indicates a rather naive approach by Moyes - bordering on stupidity.

Kaka/Ozil to Utd as well. Yep.

I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't after Fellaini. He knows Fellaini's quality, but he also knows what has caused his price to skyrocket recently was his brilliant season in the hole. He won't be playing there for Man Utd, so around ?20 m for a guy who he knows isn't guaranteed to play to that pricetag doesn't really represent good value IMO. He is better off going for someone else, Khedira is one that needs a look.

Not sure Ozil will suit the PL. He can barely finish a game in La Liga, it'd be a lot worse in England.

United should go hard for a Bender or Khedira.

No that is insulting!

I just keep hearing that Ronaldo back to Old Trafford is a possibility, but nothing can happen unless Bale goes to Madrid.

Ha, yeah. Madrid are keeping the No.11 shirt free, just as we're keeping the No.7 shirt free. Seriously though, I can't see the Ronaldo deal happening, not this year at least.

A 10m bid for Cabaye from Arsenal was just equally insulting tbh.

On Twitter today people were saying 'At last Arsenal fans, Wenger spends money!' only to be linked to this picture:

If Utd really do want Felliani, boy are we going about it the wrong way! He had a release clause for ?24m or so - if we'd put in a bid for that amount then they'd have no choice but to sell. But no, we allowed that release clause to run out so they're now obviously going to want a lot more than ?24m

As thedon said, there are probably better options out there, especially for the sort of money Everton will want. We need to get a shuffle on though, Moysie...
