Football Transfers Thread

So now we know what Wenger is spending his transfer budget on..

I don't think membership of the one direction fan club costs that much.

Spurs about to sign Wilian and Lamela, as well as picking up Coentrao in the Bale deal according to reports.

--------Wilian------------Soldado-------------------Lamela------
--------------Paulinho----Sandro---------Dembele---------------
---Coentrao-------Kaboul-------Vertonghen---------Walker-------
--------------------------Lloris----------------------------------

Also Friedel, Dawson, Naughton, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Chadli, Sigurdsson, Holtby, Capoue, Adebayor and Defoe waiting on the wings...

That is a title-winning team. They just need to gel.

That's the happiest I've seen Wenger all summer though. :spy

And agree with Don, exactly what I felt yesterday - AVB has this challenge of gelling his team together with all these new faces in the XI. Once that obstacle is overcome and the unit is settled, they're genuine title contenders.

But there is a couple of problems. One the new players need to settle down, two the style of play & competition they are about to face is massive!City,United,Chelsea & Arsenal.Just think they are coming up there this season.

It'll take atleast a season for Spurs to settle as a unit is what I meant. Definitely not title contenders this season.

After Man City in 11/12, I never rule out a title challenge these days even if a lot of new first teamers have been bought at once.

If they make those signings and they fail to match expectations it'll be because they lost Bale and not because the team isn't getting together too well.

In reality it still remains to be seen how they will cope with Bale's departure. They would've struggled to finish ahead of West Brom without him last season, the question is are all these signings enough to fill the void?

Owr owner is a **** he should think of spending the money, we needed that signing of Willian to atleast give us a hope for the champions league spot. Tottenham gets Willian and we will get their Lamela, go on Brendon!

Brendan Rodgers is just as useless as our owners. He didn't want a DoF when he got appointed at the first place. No sympathies for him really. Look at the impact of Baldini at Spurs already!

Everything but a buy-back clause, but ofc, that thing was never going on there, good luck Denis. :noway

That at the very least is a CL team, Arsenal and Liverpool, be worried.

I think that spurs side is a bit frail at the back.

3 of the 4 defenders love to get forward, and I don't think Kaboul is a title winning first choice CB. Sure they could get near with that side, but i don't think they could win it without signing an absolute gun CB

I think Vertongen could turn into a pretty gun CB if he builds on last seasons efforts this year.

That's true. Vertonghen is a top class CB but that's because of his attacking ability more than his defensive ability. Walker is average and it remains to be seen how Coentrao would do. It just looks a lot better with Lloris back there.

It's definitely a really good counter-attacking team though. They still have to actually get Lamela though.

I reckon the rumoured ?35m joint bid for Felliani/Baines will also be a waste of time - I can't see us getting those two for less than ?40m, especially when you take into account that a) Everton don't want or need to sell them and b) they don't like us very much at the moment - even less than usual... :lol

I've noticed throwing a wobbly over a team making a bad transfer bid has become quite common this transfer window. I mostly follow italian football and AC Milan's summer transfer campaign has involved being on the end of CSKA and Fiorentina constantly whinging about milans offers for Honda and Ljajic.
