Football Transfers Thread

Really poor from ESPNFC, stealing from the Mirror of all places? Since when do they steal articles, are they caughtoffside? Also, the Mirror? Seriously?

That looks like a load of rubbish. Though that part at the end about Dembele going to Napoli sounds sensible with Spurs' overstocked midfield, though since it's The Metro it could just be a case of 1+1=2.

Matter of opinion that my friend, but he is clearly a few levels above Cleverley, Jones, Anderson, Fellani in the role.

Anderson is he still with us o.O

Agree with Don here. Yes, he's definitely leagues above than what United currently posses at the middle of the park, but he's a Europa League level player at best. United can do so much better in the market than being ripped off by Newcastle and signing him for 10+ mil.

Yep. Thing is, he wants to play at a higher level so shouldn't be too tough to pick up. So if come January United don't find anyone, he could be a good signing, initially a starter, and then if/when they find someone better, he can rotate and act as a backup, and for a club like United they need a backup of his level. Like when we bought Arteta, there is a chance he could thrive at a new club and become twice the player he is now, in which case he is good enough to start for United.

Though at around ?15 m, he is an expensive risk player/rotation player. United spunked double that on Fellaini so Cabaye at that price is actually great value in comparison, he's a far better footballer than Fellaini.

He rarely played CAM for us in his entire spell. he spent way more time on either of the wings than there. that was Cahill's position. He was drifiting deeper and deeper for a long time before he left us, wasn't the DM that often, but at the time we were playing more of a 4-2-3-1 with both of the deeper CMs occupying similar positions.

It's likely a case of you underestimating him while he played for us and over-rating him while he plays for you.

Yep, oops I did mean just AM and not CAM. Either way it's a similar role, and one completely different to his role today.

Hey fair enough, maybe I am. When he came to us he certainly wasn't ready to make the mark he made for us in his first two seasons IMO. I and most other fans took it as a cheap Fabregas replacement.
