Football Transfers Thread

Van speaking on the United situation & a dutch press conference today said the following:

"Last week i spoke a few words about United. I did so because some british journalist were their and I didn't to be mean spirited. But they took my few words & turned it into 64 pages - you can't do much about that"

....the british media :facepalm

:lol. Too good , man. I want Sherwood at united

He's done far too well in his 2 loan spells that even if Mourinho wanted to sell him, the club wouldn't, at least I think they'd be smart enough to, and also, look at their options, Eto'o is leaving, Torres has some heavy interest from Inter (even though Mourinho's said he'd be totally happy to keep him), then there is Ba, and he's better than all 3 of them.

Yea smart option obviously would be the keep him. But when you see rumours like this & listen to Mourinho strangely dodge question about his future in the article, instead of coming out plainly & say he is coming back next season full time - that's why i am skeptical.

Romelu Lukaku offered to Atletico Madrid in part exchange deal to bring Diego Costa to Chelsea | Mail Online

Lukaku is overated in my opinion.

Very one dimensional, don't get me wrong he is a good player but he is not and I don't think will be a player for any top team.

Looks to me like Jose thinks the same.

Not sure I'm happy about Costa either.

Would love us to go get Ibrahimovic, I know he is getting on, but he has a good 3/4 years in him, the man is a monster, one of the most naturally gifted players I've ever seen.

Drogba said Rom is better than him at 20 , so the guy has got some quality. But I agree with the one dimension part , it is a place where he has to improve. Costa has not scored more than 10 goals before this season , so I have my reservations over him as well. About Ibra :clap You just said what I wanted to. Moreover , he is a Mou disciple and that will only bode well. In case we keep Lukaku/Bamford/Feruz/Solanke/Izzy Brown , Ibra will be an excellent mentor to them as well. But selling Lukaku and buying Zlatan alone does not make sense , we should buy Zlatan and another WC striker.

There's no chance PSG are letting go of Ibra, unless FFP sanctions are so harsh that they'll have to cut wages, which I can't see being the case.

I'm not sure that Lukaku is one dimensional. A few times last season Martinez used him in right-wing position & he didn't look out of place.

Yup ibra is very happy at PSG,i can't see him go any were at next season.

Lukaku gets compared to Drogba a lot.

And it is not justified, Drogba was on a different planet.

He could score, free kicks, long range screamers, defend set plays, and most importantly score goals in big games

Lukaku although still young to me does not look like he has potential to do what Drogba did for us, and that is what we need more than anything

Drogba was a late bloomer. Most players as physical as Drogba and Lukaku are. It makes me think that Lukaku will improve a lot as he ages.

Lukaku has scored 32 league goals in two seasons in the PL at 21. Drogba had scored 12 goals in four seasons in Ligue 2 at 24.

When Drog was 20 , he was shite , by his own admission. Only when he played for OM , he became a WC player. If Lukaku can score over 10 goals in the PL when he is just 19-20 , he is surely the real deal.

Mangala : I would prefer Chelsea over City

Obviously Chelsea are pretty well set at centre back, so don't take this as the start of a Mangala-to-Chelsea rumour, but it's nice to know that even if City manage to sign the man who I think is their top priority this summer (and I'd be slightly surprised if a deal got done with the FFP settlement now in force) he'd still rather have joined us. But I feel paying 40M for a defender who is still unproven at the highest level is a slight risk. He was not-so-good in some of the European matches. And at 40M you can get almost any defender, including the likes of Varane , Hummels et al.

Drogba is a free agent this summer! hope chelsea get him back!! He would do great now with the likes of hazard willian all in good form!

True , I'd love to see King Didier back , but where would he fit as a player? Chelsea will most likely get a top class striker and Lukaku would return. I am not sure if anybody wants to buy Torres given his wage demands , so that automatically makes him Chelsea's third choice. Judging by Drogba's interviews , he still wants to play regularly. Will he be happy to be Chelsea's fourth choice? I am not sure about it. I would love him to take up a role like Giggs , i.e , a player-coach.
