Well now that Luiz is gone & maybe Lampard, will be interesting to see if Chelsea might promote young English man Nathaniel Chalobah to the 1st team or if they go foreign for mid-fielder.
 
Knowing our transfer policy, we will go for a world class one. But I'd love to see Chalobah, RLC, Baker or Swift in the first XI. For those asking about Boga and Charly, I feel they're too young.

We all know that's very unlikely, he's got at least 2 or 3 years of loans at mid-table teams and Everton before he gets anywhere near the 1st team. :p

What's the situation with Romeu? I didn't really watch much of Valencia this season, but from what I saw of him pre-injury in 12-13, he looked a solid midfielder.

He is barely a ?15 m player.

That is ?140 m on three centre backs.
 
Romeu was good in patches for Valencia this season, but he was injured most of the time. But he did make a couple of mistakes. Right now it looks 50/50 whether he can make a future here. For some reason, Romeu looks like a young Motta to me.

David was on his way to becoming a skipper/legend at CFC. But I understand that 50M is a lot of money, especially for someone who did not even start 30 PL matches. Now we will be able to buy Vidal, Pogba or Martinez.

The funny thing about that deal is that Luiz really is not a CB. The best football he has played as chelsea is as a deep play-maker type mid-fielder.

It really puzzles me why high profile coaches keep viewing him as central defender 1st. I guessed Mourinho realizes it eventually last season - but Scolari will play him in that position in the world cup & Blanc seems to want to follow.
 
true that don, that qatari guy has an obsession with brazilians. A proper club would get a decent back 4 under 50m. Seems like they're making a joke out of FFP on purpose. Since mourinho took over Mata and Luiz have always been in the dark, while he's played luiz frequently in his back 6, you'd expect mourinho to keep hold of him but quite the contrary.

It's another masterstroke from Mourinho - 87.5m from Mata and Luiz, and they got Matic back as well.

PSG have made it clear now that CL is their priority. They'll sail through the league with their fringe team.

In 3 and a half years i can count on one hand how many good matches he's had, take his gimmick away (hair/ crazy behaviour) he is a very average footballer.

No no, he has the influence in the dressing room. The influence which is needed for each and every skipper. He was amazing at the pivot this season, along with Matic. But I have to admit that Jose and Michael have done an amazing job at selling 3 players who did not start regularly for more than 100M.


David Luiz is one of our best and most valuable players, wanted by Bayern, Barca and PSG. If I was in charge I won?t even sell him for 50M, that is how much I rate him. He is perfect in the pivot with Matic and I still consider him a better defender than Cahill, he just needs to be handed more responsibility, like say making him vice captain if Lamps doesn?t come back. His few lapses are always over blown, making him out to be some sort of calamity at the back. All our defenders made equal and for some, even more mistakes than Luiz but it?s normally overlooked. He is miles ahead of all our central midfielders except maybe Matic. Everybody seems to have forgotten how much he is missed in the team whenever he is injured. Luiz is a rare breed of player that is excellent in 2 positions.(sorry for posting this again :p)

@Lee1981, If David isn't a good player, then why does literally every good club chase him :rolleyes DL is very good defender.

But?..the only problem was he was great at big games and was lazy against lower PL teams. It's more like attitude problem than missing important skills.

Yep, but it's quite clear he is being brought to play CB. Still, that money for a DM makes no sense either. Javi Martinez for ?40 m was seen as an eye-watering fee for a DM, and he is twice the player Luiz will ever be.

Sick of all these overrated Luiz and Hummels type defenders.
