The only reason I compared Oscar to Pirlo was Pirlo's transformation from a number 10 into a DM/CM. Chelsea, in many matches this season, missed someone like Mata or KdB, someone who can unlock deep defenses. Oscar as a number 10 works very well against teams of equal/superior strength because he presses very well, but it does not work well against inferior teams because of the same reason. It is in these kind of matches we need a "creative" number 10. One thing you should notice when Oscar plays for Brazil is that he occasionally drops deep and plays along with Paulinho, with Gustavo playing almost like another defender or a deep DM, except for the Uruguay match where Paulinho moved forward. And yeah, I do understand that what I say sometimes does not make sense. It is maybe because of my not-so-good English that I cannot express myself fully.
Sad to see this special Atletico team being disbanded. They are possible the top team in Europe and they are losing all their best players without much of a fuss to inferior teams...
Great CB, too bad he's almost 30. At most he'll give them 2-3 years of good service before he declines. Adaptation time has to be considered too, and it looks worse.
The fee which has been thrown around is huge as well, ?25 m I think.
Overall it's an underwhelming signing for Man Utd IMO, but a step in the right direction at least.

Very good deal, IMHO. Lukasz is really underrated and can be a good GK for mid-table sides.
